Will TTD even work???

I was watching Fox 6 news the other night, and at about quarter to 10, a news story came on about TTD. The said the manager of the site said they were about over 75% done and will then undergo numerous tests. However, this ride might not make it over the peak of the ride if the weather is bad or severe. If this were to happen, the train would be brought back down to the station and would be re-launched. I then thought that if CP is smart, (which they are most of the time), they would just not run it in severe weather. What do you think?

Not run it in severe weather? Aw, c'mon, it's not like it's Sandusky's biggest lightning rod or anything...

I would assume that, like almost all of their other coasters, that the ride will not run during high wind or severe weather.

And to answer this thread's title... Nah, it's just for looks! ;)

Yeah...I mean...all parks operate their coasters during severe storms!

Seriously, CP (and most every park) have plans for any issue that might come up. At least if it doesn't make it over, they don't have to evac from a hard to reach area with cherry pickers.

If it doesn't make it over the top hat, (which in all normal conditions shouldn't be a problem) it will roll back and slow down onto the magnetic brakes. Simple as that. Of course, the way CP has their trains queued up, it may take a while to back the trains up into position if one rolls back.

And as everyone has said, there are very few rides that operate in a lightning storm. A good idea, I think. ;)

Having felt the sting of rain while sitting in Millie's front seat I would be willing to bet that Dragster does not run in inclimate weather.

You have to remember that winds are a lot FASTER being that they come off Lake Erie. Cedar Point is the MOST popular park for shutting down some of their major attractions during severe weather. I know Raptor is one of them. I HIGHLY doubt that the operators would even consider to run TTD in such conditions.

Would have been nice to have a windshield to protect from the Mayflies and bugs at night,,,

What do you think the maximum wind speed will be for TTD to operate in?

Hit by one?

Try swallowing a bug while on that ride. Now that is something that doesn't feel good!

"peer pressure".....I know I'm not responsible for THAT one....I'm *peerless*....;)

edit: back to topic, IF the new thrill ride at CP is going to operate *per specs*, then Intamin better have had some programmers working OT to get all those bugs worked out.....Xcelerator is *buggier* than CP during CM....

side note: 6 trains....only at CP or a Disney park could you load/unload like that....it requires that your ops bust @$$ to get those trains a' rollin....."train kept a' rollin' all night long"...:)

Hey, I say that on slow days, they should intentionally launch it only part-way up the tower at first; at launch getting progressively further up the tower until, finally, nirvana!

I *could* translate that SBNO into Latin for an acronym that would involve swallowing.....but let's TRY and keep ONE thread *in good taste*....shall we?
