Any locals know what happened to Titan?

I'm on business in Texas from New Jersey. We changed our arrangements around visiting SFOT on the last two operating days. I do understand that they are in limited capacity this time of year but I was told on Thursday afternoon (before we left) that Titan would be open. Well, after spending the extra money for two more nights in a hotel and a rental car, I come to find that it broke down. Anybody know what happened to it. They gave me the list of rides over the phone that would be closed and assured me that Titan would be open. I guess crap can happen but I'm really bummed. Anyway, I got to ride my new favorite woody, the Texas Giant. What an awesome coaster! Oh well, gotta go. Btw- What a nice park. They have done (for Six Flags) a reasonably nice job with the theming/surroundings.
Titan breaking down is nothing unusual. It breaks down ALL the time. Also, most of that theming/surrounding (or at least some of it) is from the days when the park opened (SFOT opened as a Six Flags park and was the first), however a lot of that theming has been lost over the years.

Ah, thanks. I didn't realize that they had a problem ride on their hands. That would explain why the employees were acting as though it was nothing unusual. Its a real bummer because the layout looks amazing! You are right about the theming because you can tell it looks a bit outdated. I guess I have not been treated to the "new" Six Flags theming because Movie town is closed. Oh well. Better luck next time I guess ;)

You didn't miss much (though parts of Good Times Square has some nice landscaping and theming). ;) Some of the park's best theming is in Texas.

What happened to Titan? Goliath is incredibly reliable. The only time I remember it being closed was back when that lady...

Yea, I guess theming did go to crap in the late 90's. Anway, Titan didn't open on the last day of the season. I was hopeful because they had employees at the entrance telling us to stop back later in the day because they are working on it. They were in fact working on it as I could see from the first turn on Texas Giant but I never once saw a train leave the station and it never did open. At least I got some really good pictures from the parking lot...:( All in all it is still a very nice park with very cool ops. I'm sure we were a bit spoiled by the low attendence but they have a nice assortment of rides. One of my favorites is Runaway Mountain. What a great indoor coaster! This is what Skull Mountain should have been!
I almost never hear anything about Titan. It seems to always be overshadowed by its slightly different big brother. It looks like a good ride. I'll take it. We can trade.

Titan is a nice ride, and I emphasize nice. It's like doing 80mph in your car. It did breakdown the first day I spent there, but it opened later on. RT, you hit the nail on the head as far as Runaway Mountain goes. That one drop scares the crap out of you! I wish Premier would build another one, say at Six Flags America, my homepark:)

Please forgive my ignorance, what is Titans slightly bigger brother? Also, I can't believe that Premier Rides did Runaway Mountain! What a great ride. I'm so used to LIM Premier rides that I almost forgot that they have also done traditional steel.
Duh, I can't believe I forgot about Goliath.....Oops. Sorry about that. Ok, so which is better? My next far reaching trip will probably be Magic Mountain for Goliath, X and Riddler. Will I be ok missing Titan if I get on Goliath or is Titan a completly different experience? Titan truely looks like a great ride but I've never heard much mention of it.
Titan has an extra helix compared to Goliath but other than that they are the same ride. In my many trips to the park Titan has always been one of the more reliable rides in the park. It has never been down when I visited, which is roughly once a month, so I would be shocked to find that has to many problems. I've never been overly fond of the ride. I prefer the airtime of a coaster like Apollo's Chariot compared to the helix g-forces of Titan.
Hm. Just so you know, the employees lied to you. There were no plans to open the ride on the last day of the season. The ride was having lift hill problems on the 4th, and it closed. They fixed it but they didn't want to risk stranding a train on the lift, so it never reopened.
Lying ops...where have I heard that before. Maybe it was at MAgic Mountian when they told us that X would be open when the winds died down, whne infact it seemed like Magc Mountain had no intention of opening the ride.

Titan has had more downtime than Goliath, which is ironic and bizarre. You won't be missing out on anything by riding Goliath other than the additional helix that Titan has. I'd say Goliath's lush landscaping ads a lot to the whole destroyed Mayan empire theme...
