SFWOA Drive-By Report 12-29

Well, a quick swing by old Geauga Lake yesterday in My 1989 Accord Coupe LXi gave me some interesting sights. There are 4 tubs off the Giant Wheel, marking the first year they actully bothered to remove any. The X-Flight trains are sitting behing the maintainence building all covered in snow. Good Job Six Flags. And the big news: the new Geauga lake Road has had next to nothing done on it since closing, but I guess you could chalk that up as weather related for there was a ton of snow.

So, in closing, my catch phrase for this report is: "A Whole Lot of Nothin' "

Did you see any employees carrying boxes of belongings to their cars? I understand some "cost saving" layoffs are rumored to happen in the next couple of weeks.

Trains sitting out in the snow. Gee, I wonder why they have so much downtime at SFWoA?

Weather related my ass. There are houses going up across the street and work on I-71 near me continues. Heck, I even here they're building a huge ride at the park down the road! ;)

I don't really think trains sitting in the snow is all that unusual of an accurance. Virtual Midway has a large walpaper of some Gemini trains covered in snow at CP.

Jeeze Jeff, I havn't seen you make a gramatical error before, "Heck I even here..." I think that should be hear. ;)

Unfortunatly, the X-Flight trains were uncovered, and unlike the Gemini trains, the X-Flight trains have lots of little electronic bells and whistles built in them. But if the trains are built to handel being exposed for 6 months, then more power to them.

Actually with the crowds that the park formerly known as Geauga Lake draws these days, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a drive by. I am certain I have seen gang colors in there in the last couple of years.

Oh no, not another Six Flags park filled with gangs. This isn't good.

I love SFWOA. That will definitely be my second stop when the parks start opening in May (after Holiday World of course). I really can't wait to see how their "new coaster" turns out as well as the one at SFGAdv. It was looking pretty nice at the end of last season! So, there probably is a little work being done... I hope. ;)

I've heard that some of the full timers have had to take other jobs during the winter ...sounds like things are pretty bad at the park for employees. I hope things are back in order by time the new season starts.

New coaster at SFWoA? Do you know something that nobody else knows?

I think Raging Wolf Bobs will be as good as new next year. The retracking looked to be a very thorough undertaking when I visited the park in October.

OhioThemeparks.Com still states that a 210 foot tall hyper is going in at SFWOA. Maybe it will be later in the year.

Well, I welcome you to hold your breath but I am not going to. If they can't afford to pay their employees I doubt they can afford to build a hyper.

I love these websites that claim a coaster is coming to a park before anyone has seen evidence of it. No track, no footers, no land clearing...

Don't be so sure about them getting a coaster! The website doesn't know what they're talking. All the park ever got was permission to build that high.

I'm sorry they aren't. No new coaster= no new visit for me. I have a much bigger new toy a few hours away!

You're in luck Peabody! Cedar Point is now only a little over an hour away from SFWOA... unless you're referring to SFGAm, PKI, or another park instead.

It was confirmed by the park, at an ACE convention 3 weeks ago, that SFWOA would NOT be building a coaster for 2003.

Danny, I was referring to a different starting position.....from where I go to visit family in the summer, CP is a few hours away, as is SFWOA I'm not one of those lucky SOBs that has a park a few minutes away ;)
