I always thought they put the tree up because it is Christmas too?!? They didn't put a tree up on Chang when it was topped off (which was Janurary), they didn't put a tree on Xcel either by looking at that above pic. I'm also pretty sure Mantis didn't have a tree on its lift which was topped after Christmas. I do know that Raptor had a tree on its lift though.
Is this because it was safe, or just because of Christmas? I always thought it was like the present under the tree sort of thing.
A X-mas tree or flag on top of a ride show's the ride(or buildding) has been topped off, its a very old practice you can have either one or both. Here is a link that will explain and help clear up all the confussion.
