Do you guys think that Impulses are the next wave of Batman: The Ride clones?

Yes, but I think the impulse is a different story. The Impulse coaster is what it is. Launch, and then a forward-and-backward type of ride. There are variations, double twists, holding brake, 30-degree (or so) incline, but that's it. Now an Invert on the other hand is an animal of it's own. Once you're out of the station, anything can happen.

So as far as the Impulse clone, I really don't see it as a bad thing.

No, I think Superman: Ultimate Flight is the next wave of Batman: The Ride type clones. I think Impulses are the next way of Boomerang clones. :)

That's a loaded question. ;)

In the sense that there are several Intamin Impulse coasters, just as there are several B&M inverts with the Batman: The Ride layout, then yes, I guess you could consider them the 'next wave' of B:TR clones. You could also say they are the next wave of Vekoma SLCs, for the same reason.

You could also state that Impulses are the next wave of Schwarzkopf or Arrow shuttle loops, or even Vekoma Boomerangs, since all are shuttle coasters.

However, take into consideration the fact that most Impulses are not exactly alike, unlike the shuttle loop and the Boomerang. That said, their legacy cannot be compared to any mass-produced shuttle in the past, as Impulses are not true clones, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me! (Whoops, wrong tangent...)

Furthermore, there are only two Impulses that share the same name, unlike the seven B:TRs that currently exist (with one more on the way).

So essentially, yes and no.

I agree, Vater... essentially, yes and no.

The Impulses may be the next wave of shuttle coasters, but since there are already 4 versions available (see "Linear Gale", "Wicked Twister", The newly remodeled "V2" at SFMW, and the "V2" at SFGam / "Superman: UE" model) it doesn't seem like they will all be exact clones in the future.

The B&M Flying "Superman: Ultimate Flight" design seems destined to be the next mass cloned, full circuit coaster, but of course there will be plenty of custom installations as well (see "Air")

Actually there are more than twice as many Vekoma SLC clones than "Batman: The Ride" clones, so perhaps we should be asking if the impulses are the next wave of those coasters...

Not to bring this one up again, but if they keep going with impulses I would like to see some variety. Maybe make horizontal inline twists rather than just vertical ones or some other elements. The twist followed by a pull up would seem to be pretty darn intense.

I don't think that Impulses are the next wave of B:TR's, but I know what you mean. Impulses are more unique because, as djgreghaus pointed out, there are different models now. An Impluse could be tapered into what a park wants its guests to experience. On another note, I believe this topic has been posted before. You should have known better than to start this post as you were supposed to do a back-breaking mind-boggling search with 5,000 results before instituting said post. TOS!!!!!! ;)

That didn't really seem like a clone "wave" to me. More like a cloned coaster and then Six Flags reusing a name.

Well seeing as how there's only six in the entire world I think its a little premature to start belly aching about this being the "next boomerang"

Boomerang's are fairly cheap so all sorts of parks have installed them, whereas impulses have only been installed in parks with a large customer base, and in the Twin Cities.

Batman:TR and Impulses is not a very good correlation. That's comparing a certain coaster to a coaster type. You could compare impulses to inverts (?).

I agree with CoasterDuede316, Superman: UF is most likely going to be the new Batman:TR. Flying coasters are new so SF is branching a Superman clone just like inverts were new at the time, so they branched Batman:TR. Sorta confusing. Impulses are a trend, Superman:UF is a clone like Batman:TR was.

What about Volcano, the Blast Coaster? That is a full circuit, but is it considered an Impulse?

RollerJunkie: The point he was trying to make in comparing B:TR to impusles is that impulses are being picked up fairly quickly by a lot of parks, just like boomerangs and S:UF. I don't think impulses are a trend, but I do think we'll be seeing a few more S:UF's before the day is out.

Could this be the end of an era for B:TR's? Could they be falling out of the trend just as Arrow corkscrews did once long, long ago?

I don't see impulses being picked up any quicker then flyers and floorless coasters.

I personally would like to see Arrow build a few more NEWER megaloopers. I happen to be fascinated by them and would line up to ride a new one. (And I know here comes the bashing, so let the bashing begin!)
