Gorilla At Large

Those growing up in the Cleveland area may have remembered a movie that aired on TV called "Gorilla at Large". It was probally around 1983 or 1984. The movie was about a Kong-Like gorilla that came loose from an amusement park and wreaked havoc. It was probally aired around the country as well.

The movie was shown in 3D and you could purchase 3D Glasses at the local Mini Marts.

Now, there was an amusement park or carnival in this film, I just can't remember which, since I was around 9 or so at the time. Any one got any details?

I dunno, but this would be a great theme for the new CP ride. I don't know why, but it would be great to say, "Hey, who wants to ride Gorilla At Large?"

Would that be the same gorilla that wreaked havoc with Big Chuck and Little John in their opening sequence in the late 80's/early 90's?

It could be. I think that GaL was aired on CBS.

Or would it be Hoolihan and Big Chuck?

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the park shown was the Long Beach Pike. I do remember feeling cheated with the 3-D glasses though. The effects weren't very special!

I saw a show yesterday morning with the Incredible Hulk in it, and the rail snapped, and the train flew off the track. It was hallarious! Anyone know what show it was?

I believe that's House on Haunted Hill with the Hulk "accident."

Gorilla at Large was filmed in the early 1950's during the height of the 3 D craze that was sweeping the film industry at that time. It was going to rescue the business from that "little box" popping up in housholds around the country. The location was the Long Beach Pike, which was pretty much in it's heyday at that time. It starred Cameron Mitchell,Anne Bancroft, Lee J. Cobb, and a young actor who had played bit parts as a heavy up to that time, named Raymond Burr.
