On-ride photos on Impulses: Impossible?

edit: weird. I replied to this thread and the reply ended up before the initial post. Damn you daylight savings!

I would imagine that if they have the technology to take a several ton train and accelerate it to 70mph in just a few seconds, they probably have a way to take a picture of it.

Why don't parks have them? Beats me. I usually associate on-ride photos with signature rides (though I know there are tons of examples to disprove this), and I don't exactly consider an impulse a signature ride. A nice addition? Sure, but not the life of park. For some reason though I feel we may see an on-ride photo on VF's Steel Venom. Just a hunch.

Is it me, or do none of the Intamin impulses have an on-ride photo? Is it just that it's impossible with today's current proxy technology, or have all the parks decided it wasn't worth it for their Intamin ride? Just wondering is all.

Well, seeing as how cameras that can take pictures in millionths of a second (if not even faster) for years, YES it's possible... jeez, you go over 60 mph and people think it's like a subatomic particle accelerator.

Yes it is possible. After all, the picture on Volcano is taken on the launch.

Also, even though you go through the station and other parts multiple times, the camera can be programmed to take only one picture. A lot of kiddy coasters are like that...Taxi Jam for example.

Rock n rollercoaster at WDW has an on-ride photo right when you launch, so I guess impulses can have an on-ride photo.

I know that PGA's Invertigo has an on ride camera,the camera is positioned between the vertical loop & the 2nd lift.

Does that camera take one set frontwards and then another set when its falling back down for the other people?

My two favorite ride photos are at Hersheypark (sarcasm) which takes a picture of you as you enter the brakes (you read that correctly) of Great Bear and Wildcat. I'm guessing that since it's a "family" park, they don't want to put up the "photo not available" that other park chains have to when kids give the middle finger (or two middle fingers).

If you want expensive rides, you're going to pay for them, in one way or another.

Wouldn't it be cool to have it in the midde of the twist on the tower? That would solve the speed problem too because it would be slow.

Do the trains have anything to do with the lack of photo's?

Impulse trains seem to be very close in proximity to seats and such, almost claustrophobic if you will.

I am sure it can be done, but how much cost is it worth? I personally like the one ride photos, especially on non coaster attractions like flumes.

I think they should put it on flat rides such as turbo drop, or tower rides. There is one on Disney's Tower of Terror (Disney world orlando) Just use the NFL sky cam to do it it would work!

I think it is possible for an inverted impusle coaster to have on ride photo's because on Some LIM coasters have on ride photo's when you go through the first half of the ride not in reverse. Maybe the same can go with an impulse coaster.

Sure it's possible, all they would have to do is control the camera settings with a computer as oppose to prox switches. Then make the computer take the pics on the initial launch, and shut down for the rest of the launches. I think that the only problem to going to all of this trouble is that they might not think that the investment is justified if they believe that they won't sell as many on-ride photos as normal coasters. Personally, I think that strobes from the camera on the launch during night rides would be pretty sweet.

They have one on the Big Shot in Vegas. Also, from looking at pictures on www.themeparkreview.com, it looks like some Giant Drops also have them.

Yes, ofcourse its possible.

Volcano's on-ride is on the launch-way, and its going atleast 60-65mph at the point when the pic is taken.

Also, MF's pic is taken at quite a high speed also. So no, i dont think its "impossible".

Xcelerator's is taken at well over 70 MPH, and doesn't look blurred at all. (There isn't much loss in speed and the picture point is a bit lower in elevation than the end of the launch).

While I'm sure that there is nothing technically to make on ride photos impossible on impulses, there may be an economic reason. Implses are generally low capacity rides. Less riders = fewer pictures sold = less or no profit.

Dude, I'm not talking about the speed or anything being a factor. I'm talking about the fact that on some parts of the track, the train passes by 6 times, and the fact that on ride photos are triggered by proxy switches.
