Transportable Rapids Ride

This looks excellent, someone posted this on another board, and I think its looks great fun, It is made by Reverchon Industries which is based in France and this looks like being a great little rapids ride, I especially like the look of the Slide Section after the Lift Hill.
Also they dont take up too much room, so I wonder if any small parks will take advantage of one of these superb looking rides??? After all, I think it would be great if we saw a few of these popping up at some parks as they look a lot better than some Rapids Rides I have ridden thats for sure ;)

Does SFAW have a rapids ride? This could fit in nicely by Wave.

Yes, SFAW has a river rapids ride, Thunder River. In fact, it was the first in the world and was revamped over the last off season.

I see this as a good installation for fairs, very small parks, and maybe even some waterparks.

chris - SFAW's new 2003 coaster, the Arrow-designed "Wave," can easily fit over Thunder River.

But I thought SFAW was getting "Shock" and that SFKK was getting "Wave"...

bill - If placed around the rapids ride, Wave seems much more appropriate. You're absolutely right about this ride not fitting in at 'big time' parks. Hence the ride screams Astroglide to me. ;)

chris & 'Gator - my sources indicate to me that the part of Shockwave going to SFAW will indeed be placed over Thunder River. In addition, they're going to add a few geysers to Thunder River that would also soak riders of the coaster as well, probably under the corkscrews.

Expect an announcement during or after IAAPA.

And this is why I get pissed when people say Six Flags is not creative.

I know I'll be heading to Houston this summer to catch a Wave.

That river rapids ride looks like something to put in a fair, NOT in a major theme park. I would also like the idea of having that in my back yard!:) Think of how much money I could get from the locals!

I agree, chris. Just think...Six Flags could have spent a few million buck on a new B&M or Intamin, but with a substantially lower budget for new attractions for 2003 it would mean that other parks would have to go without new rides this year. Instead, they get creative and find a way to give two parks new coasters *and* save money. Its a win-win situation for everyone involved.

I *thought* 'Moosh was kidding as well....oh, the things I don't know....but then again, I did go 2 for 3 on HW's expansion plans...:). But if they REALLY wanted win-win, they'd take my resume....

Six Flags is creative. Here at Fiesta Texas for Fright Fest they made all the water in the park (Except for the Bugs Bunny's White Water Rapids ride) red! That's cool because their river rapids ride (The Gully Washer) was completely red.

'Gator - I checked with a source of mine in Chicago and he claims that "Wave" is just a project code name and that the actual name of the coaster is still being decided by SFAW top brass.

Is SFAW Six Flags Astroworld? If it is, they are getting a new coaster?!? I thought it didn't have room for diddly squat.

Yes, SFAW = Six Flags Astroworld. If you don't think they have room for new coasters, you have never seen pictures of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Indiana Beach, or heck even RollerSoaker at Hersheypark.
