Why the white in Japan?

Why are so many roller coasters in Japan simply painted white?

I know... weird, isn't it? It could just be a cultural difference in park management. An all-white ride looks understated, and the lines of the course look very clean. This is opposed to, say, Mantis (no offense, Mantis).

There was a topic on this not that far back. You could do a search. As far as I know, the white is symbolic to them. Kind of the idea of purity here in the states for a bride. If a coaster is white, it is safe. All the rides at Expoland are white. Things are changing now. All new rides are coming in a plethora of colors.

Not quite Japan but still on the same color topic: Can anyone explain why 3 of Heide Park's coasters, all next to one another, have the same white and lime green colors? Those coasters are Big Loop, Schweizer Bobbahn, and Limit. Plus if you look at this 1st picture, it looks like some of the flat rides are too.

The paint was on sale?

I believe Sean F. said in a recent TR that it had to do with the theming of that area of the park.

Maybe so the whole park keeps the same look by using the same mix of colors?

White was in no way the predominant color at any of the parks I visited in Japan. There was a good mix of colors, I thought.

White keeps things colder as opposed to black.

Just a guess!

Actually Vertigo, Chris has been to Expoland, but like me doesn't really see that much need to go back until they spruce it up a bit more. Sure, if I lived in Takarazuka or Nishinomiya, I would buy a season pass. Heck, Orochi is better than Raptor in my opinion, BUT there isn't much more to do.... You certainly can't tell me that Fujin Raijin II is a fun time, or that Daidarasaurus is much fun either, especially now since it is one big track (read as one LONG ride, boring at that). Yes, the corkscrew is smooth, and the park is super clean (the cleanest park I have ever seen), but the only other thing to do is go into the "freezer." ...and that is only in the summer anyway! (-37 degrees celsius) -Holy Crap! Anyway, he just burned right by it. In fact, I don't think he even hit the Kansai area. Heck, he hadn't been to Nara yet, and that is so different he would hit that first anyway. I would go to Portopialand again WAY before I would go to Expoland again.:):)

Not sure if this is a reason why, nasai said that they light up their coasters in rainbow colours at night like with MF.

maybe the rainbow colors look better in a white backround
