Small park Love

No, I think Kennywood would be considered that small park feel with a big park. Like the small parks it keeps it's history and is one of the perfect mixes of big park rides with a small park feel IMO.

I've only visited one small park (well, two if you count Kennywood), and that is Dollywood. It doesn't offer much for strictly coaster fans, but it is an amazing park, overall. The scenery, foliage, and mountain setting is gorgeous (beats out BGW, in my opinion), and the rides are wonderfully themed. The park has a different feel than any other I've been to (many older patrons and employees than your average corporate park, for one thing). Dollywood is probably the most underrated park that I've visited.

My favorite small park is Holiday World. (It's my wife's favorite park overall.) I am suprised nobody else mentioned HW, yet!

In fact, we are already making plans to come down for SRM2k3 - she is looking forward to be able to ride the rides and coasters this trip - she's currently pregnant with our first child and couldn't ride at SRM2k2. We both loved everything about the park - the extremely friendly staff, well maintained grounds, free soda & sunscreen, the rides (Raven & Legend - WOW, what a 1-2 punch!).

Indiana Beach, Knoebel's, Kennywood, Holiday World.

The 'small parks' give me more of what I'm looking for.

My Favorite home park is Seabreeze. It is 10 mins away from were I live. It has my first rollercoaster The Jackrabbit and the classic bobsleds! This park is Mint.

Hyper Rails The best thing since white bread!

I have only been to Michigan's Adventure (after it become a Cedar Fair Property, so I dont know if it would count as getting away from corporate parks), Big Cheifs Karts and Coasters, and Holiday World. I definetly enjoyed Holiday World the best. The whole park was awesome. I wish it wasnt an 8 hour drive to get there though.

How about my "top 10" favorite? ;)

Ok...I'll join in even though I probably shouldn't. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is fantastic. Gotta love the salt air and Giant Dipper. As far as rides are concerned, Indiana Beach. Then again, I don't have a lot of experience. I can say that of all the parks I've been to, these two are my favorite.

Without a doubt Holiday World is my favorite "small" park. I grew up with Geauga Lake as my backyard park. All you can ride for $4.95 a day. GL was a classic American trolly park.

Holiday World is my favorite "small" park so far and I can't wait to get to Knoebel's. Near perfection!

Kennywood feels as corporate as Cedar Fair to me, so I don't count them even though I love Jack Rabbit and a lot of their classic rides. Another general favorite for me.

Dollywood is a pretty big park as well, so that's even further from KW as a small park IMO. But, this is a park I *love* as well. Hopefully I'll be able to make another trip to Busch Gardens Pigeon Forge before the end of the season. Old fashioned natural magic! :)

Seabreeze for me. Not too expensive, nice little waterpark, Jack Rabbit, and of course the bobsled. (I want one in my backyard) complete with carpet covered loading station brakes!
