The Update on Sea World of Ohio........

Do not hold me to this, but several reliable sources to me have indicated that as of this Friday, Six Flags intends to dismantle the Aurora themer. The initial plan is to use the land and its free zoning, not a marine life themed section. Remaining will be the water ski stadium corporate picnic areas, and some of the other stadium/show facilities.

I assume that some food outlets and retail shops along with the Happy Harbor will stay intact. Bye bye to Penguin Encounter and Shark Encounter type attractions. And what will happen to the pearl divers? Again, this comes from inside sources. Six Flags has pulled surprises before.

Well, if that happens it will be too bad. I was kind of thinking they might pull something like a Marine World Ohio thing. I thought they might have SFO, and then make the marine park into Marine World Ohio or something like that. I mean, it would probably cost more in the long run to maintain those attractions in the park anyways though. Just a guess though. Peace. :)

A Green Machine is rising at SFO!

I might not be correct, but I think that I read someplace that Sea World would continue to operate as Sea World next year, then it would take on the Six Flags brand name. Again, I can't remember where I saw that, but I think that I did. Maybe I was just having a weird dream.

It does seem like Six Flags makes an awful lot of points in mentioning their experience with marine animals in the press releases. Also, they talk about the shows at Sea World being a good fit for Six Flags Ohio. If they planned to do away with them, why would they put this stuff in their press releases?

Whatever Six Flags does at this point will not surprise me. I've doubted some past rumors (four coasters in one year at SFO, Premier Parks buying out Six Flags, Magic Mountain building 3 coasters in one year, Six Flags acquiring Sea World Ohio) so I suppose that we won't know until an announcement is made.

It will be a shame if the marine attractions are taken away from Ohio. I've only been to Sea World Ohio once, but I remember it as being a very nice park and I know that a lot of families enjoy it. *** This post was edited by Natas on 1/12/2001. ***

This would be a disappointment if they decided to do this.
They will dismantle something that means alot to the people only to increase their space for what?? More COASTERS??
I'm sorry..I'll take the sea life first over any coaster.
I am a Dolphin lover through and through and they even touch that tank and I'll protest.
I think it is wrong if they do this and I know the public won't just let it happen without a fight.

In the Plain Dealer today it said the SWO will keep its marine theme. Actually stating "its a marine park not a rides park" and that the SFO side will stay the major theme park of the two in trill rides anyway. W/ alot of DC or Warner Bros. themed shows going into the SWO side and possibly Shamu's Happy Harbor tuning into a looney tunes themed area.

Some other quotes from the paper today are "It would be silly for us to duplicat ourselfs, we have the thrilling rides and excitment of a them park on the SFO side." Six Flags Inc spokesperson.
She also said that "This will be a sea life park not a rides park, We are not going to fill in the whale tank and build a coaster on top of it." these where all said be Debbie Nauser a Six Flags Inc. spokeswomen. *** This post was edited by Matt13 on 1/13/2001. ***
