Intamin, AG Freefall- Good for Holiday World?

I know that these rides are not the highest capacity rides, but on a full queue line at PKI, I only waited 30 minutes on Drop Zone! Would this ride be to intense for Holiday World? I personally don't think it would, how could you get more intense then the Raven or Legend? Both very intense coasters. This wouldnt be too expensive for Holiday World, & I think it would make a great addition.

I think it could go either way. It's not like it is the wrong thing for the park, but it's not the best. It would be very successful however.

I think an S&S tower (double shot or combo tower) would be a much wiser purchase for Holiday World.

I think an old First Gen Intamin Freefall would be a good addition. Either that or 1 or 2 S&S Towers. Or one of those slingshot things!

If they wanted to go with a "less extreme feel" they would be better off going with a First Generation Free Fall.

The First Generations are plagued with maintenance issues and HW probably wouldn't want to get themselves involved with that. The problem with freefall towers is that, unless you have an extremely tall one, they can be difficult to market; they are basically one-trick ponies. I think the money would be more wisely invested in an interactive dark ride from Sally Rides. They could market the interactivity to death and this would draw a lot of families -- their main target. A Mad Mouse ride would do the same. I think either one of those would be cheaper, and more attractive to the GP than a freefall. -Allan

I agree with you, a mouse or dark ride would be a better choice for Holiday World.

I think the thrills of a freefall tower are more marketable than a dark ride, of course depending on which crowd HW really wants to market to. It's important to remember that HW wants high-capacity attractions, though, so both a single S&S tower and a Sally ride are probably out of the question.

Nate you said a drop tower is more marketable than a dark ride. I would have to disagree here. My home park is SFStL and they have done a whole bunch with Scooby Doo. The attendance has increased greatly at the park. I think as long as it is a good dark ride it will do as well as a drop tower.

The other thing you have to look at is which group are you trying to attract. Drop tower will bring in teens and adults while a good dark ride could be more of a family thing.

I believe a drop tower at HW is absolutley the WRONG way to go. An S&S 80' space shot may be the better choice or a Frog Hopper themed to Holidog.

The park should consider rides that the whole family can ride together. Wild Mouse, Paratrooper, Yo-Yo, Carousel, Giant Wheel, etc.

a dark-ride, mine-train, or better yet, BOTH in one ride....;)

I think somethings like that would be good for Holiday World but first you have to see how much money they have. They probably have about 3 or 4 million to spend so some rides may be out of the question. I say go with another woodie, they havn't made a bad one yet. Just a thought.

Looks like a water attraction for the waterpark next year.

I've never been to HW but I can gather a pretty good opinion of the place from what is said on this board, and I would say that (another assumption: AG Freefall is what PittFall is) this is the wrong type of ride for this park. I think would introduce a level of "high tech" thrill that the rest of the park doesn't have. Even though Im in no way a fan of dark rides, I think that would be a much better choice for this park.

I could *imagine* that a second-gen Intamin freefall could be had for a reasonable price. (PittFall is, in fact, one of those)...But, I have to admit being *intrigued* by the new Zamperla and Fabbri towers.....

my first inclination for HW in terms of a tower ride would be the "small, yet powerful" S&S shot rides....at about 80' tall, it wouldn't need to interfere with the general feel of the park....and I *may* know where they might be able to get one used...

I agree with you completely. The first thing I thought was that this type of attraction really seems out of place at HW. Even though I have never been there, the impressions I have from other people's comments leads me to this conclusion.

And I also agree that some sort of moderately thrilling dark ride seems appropriate. Or perhaps even a Runaway Mine Car coaster.

Most of you are saying this is too intense, and they have no other intense rides like that. Well, inorder to start getting intense rides, they should start with something like this. Yes, it would be kinda odd to build a Intamin Giga coaster out of nowhere. But, this is a whole different story. By the way, where is Paula? She hasnt posted for awhile on here.
