Lakemont Park in USA Today

Just thought I would share, there are two pictures of a baseball stadium in the sports section of the 8/8/02 issue. There is one on the front page, and one on the third page. Looks like the coaster is practically in the outfield!

Skyliner is pretty much in the outfield. I remember this from watching the Altoona Curve practice while waiting in the enormous line when I went on Memorial Day right after KennyKon.

I thought it was kind of picturesque. I wonder if anyone has ever caught a homer while on the lift. Now that would be a cool story.

It's a very cool place indeed. The Skyliner is in the outfield. Just behind the fence anyway.

Yeah, Skyliner isn't actually IN the outfield, but defines the back wall. One time some friends and I were at a game, debating how often balls hit the coaster. After watching the game, we had our answer -- "Not very" :)

lol, that would be sweet to catch a homer while on the lift. Except with any luck the ball would land in the seats that were closed off when I went on memorial day.

Six Flags, the only chain of parks that can manage to have stacking with a one train operation.

I've never had to wait for Skyliner, but it is definitely just over the fence.

Thats where the Altoona Curve Play. We saw a game there in 2000 Curve vs. the Erie Sea Wolves. It was cool watching a game with the park in the background. It would be quiet as the pitcher was winding up then you'd hear the screams from on the coaster and the click, click, click of the anti rollbacks. Plus the parks open till midnight after home games. We usually stop at Lakemont on the way out and back from Kennywood. It's a good rest top between Pittsburgh and the Knoebels area!

I don't think Skyliner could be any closer to home plate without causing problems......
