MF in ten years???
I think it will be just like Magnum. In ten years Cedar Point will probably build a bigger coaster and the lines for MF will go down. I don't think it will be all that rougher though.

Well, if history repeats it self it looks like there will be another World Record at Cedar Point in 11 years.
If you look at the history, Gemini opened in 1978: A world record for height. In 1989 (11 years later) they opened Magnum: A world record for height. And in 2000 (11 years since Magnum) as many of you know they opened Millennium Force: Another world record for height.
So if history repeats itself, then we are instore for another record holder at Cedar Point, but you never know because it is ... HISTORY!

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark here and say that MF will in 10 years be no more.
I'm not as much of a fanatic as alot of you here, nor do I have any experience more than just riding coasters.
However, take into consideration how many breakdowns it's had in it's first year of operation. Plus the fact that it's a first of it's kind, and the wear and tear of 10 years 310 ft above the earth.
I could be wrong and I hope I am. Anyone agree that I might be semi-close?

I don't think you're even in the neighborhood of close. First off, it didn't have that many breakdowns at all. What problems it did have went away when they figured out solutions for them early in the season. In fact, the only significant lengths of downtime came with the rollback of an empty train (allegedly dispatched by the Intamin field engineer) and the lightning strike, neither of which had anything to do with the ride itself.
The structure and track itself aren't prone to any kind of damaging wear and tear, and the trains are stripped down and rebuilt every year. So that's not a problem either. The Empire State Building and the Statue of Libery are tall as well, but have been there for decades.

Okay, I think Millennium Force in 10 years will be like Magnum is today, many roller coasters have surpassed it in height, speed, length, but it is still a tight coaster. I think saying that Cedar Point won't build a taller roller coaster in the next 10 years is stupid because at the rate of technology, we could have a coaster that is taller than the Force of the Millennium in 5 years. You never know. But you could be right. I see Cedar Point going for different types of coaster before heading for the tallest in the world again.

Many of you don't understand that a coaster has its track sections replaced every now and then. You don't just build a ride and let it run without replacing the parts (besides wheels). Magnum has had its pretzel re-done like twice, and I think even Raptor had some stuff redone. Does anyone have any 100% confirms on that? Jeff? Dave?
The Point Is: When you build a $12 Mill. coaster, you can bet your life that you will be spending a lot of money to keep it running!
I also get a kick on how many people bash Arrow or Vekoma on their "roughness"
If this were the 1920's, they wouldn't last a minute on those rides.
Black eyes, bloody noses, cut knees, chipped teeth.....Now thats a rough roller coaster!
The Point Is: When you build a $12 Mill. coaster, you can bet your life that you will be spending a lot of money to keep it running!

There does come a point when building bigger is too expensive to make a return on your investment. At $25 million, I'm surprised they even built The Force.
Magnum had its pretzel and the area leading into it reprofiled. I don't know that Raptor had any track sections replaced, but I guess the cobra roll did crack a few seasons ago.

AMEN TO THE ROUGH COMMENT!! If only I could go back in time......
SFGAm....CP will give MF the attention it deserves, just like they have done with good ol' Maggie (and the rest of the fleet). I will be there for a long, long time. Long live the Intamin hyper!
And coaster chic......the 500' wooden inverted stand-up, going 150mph underwater with only a protective cup for a seat and no up-stop wheels (built by John Miller) is still in the planning stages. :D

I laughed myself silly when I saw the make-shift coasters they rode years ago..just carts going down steep hills...reminds me of the one I built out of a skateboard and some planks..DANGEROUS!
