Senior Trip

I have a question that hopefully someone can give me feedback on. I want to go to a theme park I've never been to before as my senior trip and maybe sneak in a ball game. I'm working on a shoestring budget. Travel Time makes some difference due to the amount of gas I would have to pay for.

These are the plans I'm considering.

Six Flags Great America &
Wrigley Field (approximately a 7-8 hr trip from NorthEast Iowa)


Cedar Point for 2-3 days
13 hr drive aprox.


Six Flags Ohio &
Jacobs Field
14-15 hr drive aprox.

Correct me if my driving times look off. Which package would you choose? I originally wanted to do all three including PKI, but due to a car that just died on me I don't have money for the whole shabang. Your opinions would greatly be appreciated.

SFGAm and Wrigley Field. I live right by Wrigley Field and it's the best atmosphere for a ball game even though the Cubs suck. Plus, SFGAm is getting the 2 coasters this year and the Eagle will run backwards! *** This post was edited by smoothncomfy on 1/4/2001. ***

Even though I am a Sox fan , I have to agree that Wrigley field defines what baseball is all about. It is a monumental field that has this all american feel to it. SFGAm and Wrigley field would definitely be a good choice. If you have a pass for SF and a few extra bucks for Wrigley along with paying for gas, you will be able to cover both for pretty cheap.

I think SFGAm would be the most cost effective trip. Next year there will be 12 coasters that you haven't ridden, including two new ones. But this is real tough choice seeing as all parks have spectacular rides. And according to your track record, you haven't been to either of the parks. MF is my #1, RB is my #3. SFO has some REALLY great coasters in Batman Knight Flight, Villain, SUE, Big Dipper and now X Flight.

So as you can see, you won't go wrong anywhere. It's just SFGAm is a lot of saved time with driving. And overall, SFGAm is much better run than SFO, but not QUITE as well at CP.

So my official stance is go to SFGAm and catch a Cubs game at Wrigley!

SFGAm and Wrigley field. the least driving time which makes it the cheapest. and the park is excellent and is getting 2 new rides.I'd wait until next year to go to CP, as they will probably build a new coster.

I have been to Jacobs Field, SFO, SFGA, and Wrigley Field. Wrigley Field is definately the best ballpark but Jacobs Field is almost as good. IMO SFGA is a little bit better park. I would go to SFGA over SFO because of distance, but I have never been to the point so I can't say anything about that.

Thanks everyone, while Ohio did look very tempting I think I'm going to with your advice and head to the windy city.

Plus, I was having a hard time saying no to Wrigley anyway. I've gone to a home Cubs game almost every year since I was 8.

However, it kinda sucks that we couldn't have picked up Mike Hampton or at least Denny Neagle. We need pitchig! ;)

SFGAM does look awesome and I've only been to one other Six Flags park (SFStL) and look forward to seeing what a major league coaster park looks like.

Don't go to Comiskey! That is the worst stadium ever! Even the food is terrible. Maybe I am just spoiled from The Jake. Cedar Point and Cleveland isn't far apart.

I don't plan on going to Comiskey. While, Cedar Point and Cleveland might not be too far apart I just don't have the money for both places.

You could also go to brand new Miller Park in Milwaukee, it is the same distance from SFGAm as Chicago. Although Wrigley is a very nice park.

You might as well go to Cedar Point, Sandusky is only about an 80 minutes drive from Jacobs field. But your gonna have to get your tickets soon, because the Tribe sells out every year!

If the drive times weren't so different I'd probably opt for Ohio, but I think I'm going to go to ChiTown instead.

I dunno either. The best baseball stadium combined with the best Six Flags park (Just an opinion)? I would vow for Chicago on this one.

I did the same thing my senior year. In February I went down to Flordia and saw the Indains in spring training and my dad and I went to BGT, Universal Studios. That was back in '97 so IOA was a big mud pit.

SFGAM would be my vote, and if have a had time getting tickets for the CUBS come up to Milwaukee and the new Miller Park and see the Brew Crew. Ah the fresh smell of yeast in the air.
