BGW-Why no woodies?

I can't understand this. A park with such a great collection of coasters has no woodie? They have never had a wooden coaster. I have never been to the park, but it still seems as if they should, a wooden coaster is just something that should be at every park! Is there any reason why they don't?

I have heard rumors of a possible wooden coaster coming to BGW actually. Of course, these are ONLY RUMORS!

Maybe a GCI?....... They seem to like Gwazi at BGT........

Well, BGW is worried that if they build a "woodie" that it will be a big disappointment and ruin there reputation so they stick with coasters that will surley be a succsess.

Well noise could've been solved with a LoCoSuMo type coaster, but totally enclosed. That possibility just fell out of the picture for a while.

Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain. The new for 2002 CCI at Indiana Beach. Mostly enclosed wooden coaster.

Noise control? Where do people get this stuff? Have you seen the neighborhood around BGW (or the distinct lack of)? Heard the lift of Nessy? The roar of Alpengeist?

If you have been to the park you know what the atmosphere is like. Depending on the area that they put it in a woodie just wouldn't look right in this park IMO. Then again if it went out into the woods like Big Bad Wolf and was in Ireland it might just work.

Jeff, while I agree that noise is not the reason for the lack of a woodie, and also that the roar of Alpengeist is probably louder than a woodie, I have seen the neighborhood around BGW. Kingsmill, a very upscale development backs up to BGW, near the DF site actually. Like I said, I agree that this is not stopping BGW, but it likely would have an impact on the location of a wood coaster.

Jeff - The noise control thing is always alluded to when the "Why doesn't BGW have a woodie?" question comes up. Maybe it's one of those myths like the OTSR law in California. :)

I heard that from some people at the park. And yea I have been to BGW and heard that stuff.
