Excalibur... Any Good?

Hi, everyone. I was surfing the internet yesterday and found out about a park i've never heard of. It's in Maine and called Funtown Splashtown USA. I was wondering if any of you have went there. It has a wooden rollercoaster named Excalibur that i'm thinking about checking out. I live about 2 1/2 hours away from this park. I would like to know if this park is worth it. If not a trip to Lake Compounce will go in it's place.

Have you been to Lake Compounce? If so then I would go up to Funtown Splashtown, Excaliber looks like its a good layout and its a CCI, but if you haven't gone to LC I'd probably go there as I heard Boulder Dash is amazing. I haven't ridden either though.

While I'm sure Funtown's CCI is a solid coaster. Excalibur at Valleyfair is a blast. Quick plan a vacation and ride VF's Ex *wink wink nudge nudge*

Excalibur is a great coaster, and IMO, worth the drive. Just don't go looking for "extreme thrills" (you can get that over at the S&S tower :)). There is also Galaxi, a flume, and a large collection of flats to keep you entertained. Have fun!

My wife and I recently moved to Maine and Funtown is now our "homepark". As PT300 said, this isn't exactly the most extreme park around, but it packs a good punch for a smaller park. The Excalibur is very good.... and at 220 Ft., the Dragon's Descent (S&S Drop Tower) is New England's Tallest Thrill Ride... A great bonus is that the park usually isn't very crowded during the week. Weekend crowds vary.

I'm going to the ACE preservation conference and it's at Canobie and Funtown. I'm really looking foward to riding Excalibur (second CCI). I've seen the layout and it looks interesting, just as long as the elements give what they're supposed to, because I've heard some good and bad reviews for this coaster.

I lost my hat on Poison Ivy. How pathetic.

I rode Excaliber about 5 years ago and I remember that it was the smoothest wooden coaster I've been on. My uncle actually helped build the ride. :-) Anyway, it is smooth and there are trees all around it. The ride tends to go slow after the first couple of hill though. I've never been to Lake Compunce but I've heard some great things about Boulder Dash. Also, Funtown is fun (no pun intended), but a 2 1/2 hour drive? I might not do that. If you plan on going to Funtown, stay in Maine for a while. Go to the ocean. Maine is an awsome place and Kennebunk Port is incredible. Make it a trip and then it will be worth it.

A little off the subject, but, about how far is LC from SFNE? On the map it looked to be about an hour and half.

Really? My cousin did too. Said it was hell nailing boards together in the freezing cold weather.
