Last week I was estatic to find that PKI has returned to offering a poster sized park map for purchase at the gift shops.
Apparently the maps just arrived last week. They are being sold for $2.99 and include a bit more detail than the smaller free ones given at the gate.
The reason I post this is, PKI stopped selling the maps a few years ago due to declining interest. Selfishly, this is perhaps my favorite souvenier from any park. The fact that PKI has brought back the large poster map makes my day!
However I have been told that it is a test. That PKI will offer this map again next season only if it sells well. So as a favor to good 'ol Shaggy, the next time you visit PKI, if you have $2.99 to spare, please purchase one, or two or three or a thousand.
It makes a great souvenier and serves as a great time capsule of the park this season. Typically, the maps have had a great re-sale value many years later as many older PKI park maps sell on Ebay for good sums of money.
Here's hoping it continues to sell well. I bought 3 already. Oh, and the shop I found them in was at the entrance near GR. But I believe the other shops are also carrying them.

Two related questions here ... is PKI "day trip" distance from Pittsburgh? If not, are there cheap hotels close? I really don't remember the area at all as I was with my parents and was like 13 when I went and mainly slept when I wasn't in the park =)
And do Cedar Point's old maps like you're talking about have good re-sale value on ebay? Cause I have them dating back to before Mantis went in ... I also have an old PKI map from that year ...
*twinkle in my eye that I might have found a way to get to PKI this year ... *

Yea I guess ... I do CP all the time, got in at 3:45am last Tuesday nite ... 5-6 hours sounds a little rough tho - especially since my friends are all butt-nuggets (see beer thread) and either aren't allowed to drive that far or can't drive stick shifts so i end up doing all the driving.
Guess I'll have to work on the hotel money before I set out for the park then
