Vivendi in 17 billion debt might sell off assest's
With Vivendi in the hole for 17 billion, analysts excpect them to sell of some of there assest's. do you think they will sell of there parks or keep them.

Vivendi owns Universal as one of its subsidiaries....
With the new management team on board, let's wait a week or so for them to make any announcements....fro what's been said about the the guy who just left, there was considerable mismanagement....(now if they'd just hire me, everything in O-town would be just fine....;))...

Vivendi may have a large debt, but the company is not excessively leveraged, and its revenue outlook is fine. Its stock has certainly taken a beating the last year, but whose hasn't ...
Anyway, it looks like the Bronfmans are back in charge, which doesn't really foretell anything in terms of the future of their parks. One one hand, Edgar Bronfman Jr. was the head cheese as IOA was developed; on the other his family is said to not be thrilled with the return on that hefty investment.
Only time will tell, I suppose ...

Ok, they won't sell the parks for many reasons. The first being they do make money. Secondly, selling the parks would be like trying to repair a shark bite with a band-aid, its not going to do anything to a 17 Billion dollar debt, so they might as well not even bother. Finally, the parks help market other Universal products such as the movies.
OK, the parks may be bringing in money, but keep in mind that's not necessarily the bottom line. It has been said consistently since IOA opened that the Bronfmans - other than Edgar Jr. - are not happy with the R.O.I. Not that that means anything, of course.
As far as that pie chart goes - I would be very surprised to learn that the Universal parks have anywhere near as close to a profit margain as Vivendi's booze sales - largest in the world. Alcohol profits have flatlined over the past decade, but distilleries are still licenses to print money ...

Cedar Fair is far and away my least favorite chain of parks, so I hope to anything they wouldn't buy it. I doubt they would even sell the parks, but for the sake of the woodies overseas, theming, and the good operations when I've been, I don't want CF anywhere near these theme parks. That may be just me, but that's where I stand on that topic.
