Mind Eraser at SFNE

I would like to know how painful is Mind Eraser at SFNE? I have ridden Viper at SFGrAdv, and that was an incredibly painful experience which I do not want to repeat. I hear lots of complaints about Mind Eraser, but is it really that bad? I also have ridden Kong at SFMW which is another suspended looping coaster and it wasn't that bad. So, I guess my question is should I ride Mind Eraser on my upcoming visit to SFNE, or is it as bad as Viper and should be avoided? Thanks for your opinions. -Greg

I'd go right ahead and give it a spin,sometimes an SLC can be rough but other times it can be butter smooth and I think it comes down to how well the ride is maintained.

This is probably the worst SLC of the bunch. I would say it's on the level of Viper in terms of roughness, but if you lean your head forward so you get neck banged instead of head banged, it won't be too bad.

This isn't one of the worst actually, especially since Six Flags didn't build it or was the one maintaining it for years. It still is a head banger, but not as bad as Six Flags America's is.

Hmm....good question, I don't know myself. I've always wondered that. It looks like 2 pieces of parellel track, like B&Ms, except somehow it uses the same system as Intamin, in which a piece of curved track moved into the correct place for transfer. I've never seen it done, but Im positive that the 2 sectionf of parellel track isn't transportable and stays planted on the ground. Anybody else know?

Yeah, it sits right next to the holding break. And yes, it is bolted to the ground and does not move at all.

This is very rough. I've ridden this every year since 1998 and it keeps getting rougher and rougher. In 1998 it was smooth. I rode it last year and it gave me a headache. If I were you I would ride it.

Of the SLC's I've ridden, Mind Eraser at SFNE was the smoothest. It's odd that SFDL's seems to be the worst and they appear to be the same ride.

Oh dude, I've wanted to explain Mind Eraser's transfer on CB ever since I saw it happen on 5-3-02. Here's how it happens:

They empty a train and dispatch it and stop it on the lift. The other train comes in from the brake run into the station. Then, a piece of track physically flips over with another piece of track on the other side of the track that actually leads to the brake run. It was really cool when it happened and I was dumbfounded. I thought it was really nifty:)
