While in Ohio...

Should I visit Sea World Adventure Park? I noticed it sits right next to SFWoA on the map.

Has anyone been to this park? If so, is it worth a visit? Are there any coasters in this park?

Actually its part of Sixm Flags Worlds of Adventure. Thats how the park got its name. It all one price too.

That would be nice except Sea World is now SFWoA. This is what happend when SF bought that SW park and Merged SFO with it and it became SFWoA. I guess the silly People at Rand McNally didn't get the map right when this happend. Don't worry the error will be corrected in 5 years.

Why did anhueiser busch sell the park?

We may never know the real reason, but I personally think it's a bad idea to have a marine park because you don't have a long enough season to generate revenue that feeds the animals year round. They were so desperate to get people in the park spending money the last year that your ticket was essentially a season pass good the rest of the year.

its like that at seaworld san diego too, except that parks not going anywhere now that the city council has approved of their expansion. all that is left is the CA coastal commision.

My understanding is that the son of August Busch has no interest in marine animal parks. Coupled with the fact that SFI owned all of the surrounding undeveloped land, SWO was unable to build any amusement rides, and the attendance was dropping steadily for a few years; it seems like it was the right time for BEC to get out of that property. The business model that Busch parks run on wasn't working out for that park.

And as to why sell to Six Flags? What other person/group could BEC sell that park to for the whopping sum of $200 million. Clearly Six Flags was the only company who could continue to use the land as a theme/amusement park.

While everyone at both parks knew that one company was going to assume the others property at some point, it timing was somewhat of a surprise. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if BEC bought out GLP in 1996 when they had the chance...

Speaking of Rand McNally, they still have SFWoA listed as "Geauga Lake Park". It took me a while to figure out that it was SFWoA.

Sea Worlds in Orlando and San Diego can say open year round, and are considered TOP attractions in their respective area (escpecially San Diego). Sea World Ohio was more of a local attraction and had to conform to seasonal operation. I am sure it was losing money. Six Flags opted to buy it and try it as part of the SFOhio project, hoping to draw people from competing Cedar Point by offering MORE than just thrill rides. Thus, their decision to combine all three parks for one moderately low price. You can't deny that SFWoA offers a helluva lot of stuff for your admission price.

DAN-EL, they currently do not have a whale exhibit, and I am pretty sure they don't have the dolphins either. But they do have Sharks, Rays, penguins, Sea Lions/Walrus show, and a new tiger exhibit.

personally. i only head to the mairne life section of the park about twice a year. and since i have a season pass and i normally go about 27 times at least, i think my previous words speak for themselves. but its still great for some immature fun.

I will be most satisfied to simply ride the fine collection of coasters for my track record. I had my fill of watching whales and dolphins jump through hoops last year at SWoT.

If Sea World would have not been bought by sixflags then they might not even be there now. If a family goes up there for one day they are more likely to go to an amusement park than a marine park. There are some exceptions like familys with young children or old familys not into amusement parks but the majority would pick Sixflags eventually forcing Sea World out or there but making not much money

The fact that SWO could never adapt or grow with the times forced BEC out of the Ohio market. They clearly needed to get out.

Bilelele I have to disagree that is "immature" fun. I love the SW side. That is where I go to to get away from the mass crowds on the ride side and to just relax. Plus they have the better food for a better price on that side. I love the shows and attractions they have on that side.

LoadedG they do have dolphins. They are back in Dolphin Cove this year. I was there on Sat the 11 and they ran continuous shows every 10 to 15 minutes. It was really neat the way they have it set up this year. More people interactive with the dolphins.

I wasn't sure about the dolphins. I'll being going again this year (in a couple weeks) and look forward to the dolphins. I didn't see any last year.
