GP's speculation re TR

Hi~

For those who've been on TR, what kinds of things are you hearing in the queue re it? Specifically, what kind of ride does the general public think TR is?

That its a terrific coaster.

2002 - the year we save Americana!!

Shaggy and I had the chance to ride Tomb Raider twice with some of the first members of the GP. We remained quite just to hear some of the comments about what people thought it was.

Some thought it was going to be a great indoor coaster while others thought it was just the same water ride that exsisted in the same place a year before. Shaggy and I got quite a laugh when the final door opened and people weren't expecting it. They also were pretty silent when walking onto the ride itself. The screams during those rides were great!

I know this is a relatively old thread, but I hate to make a new one that might be something that has been said many times before. I tried to read all the posts concerning this, but it's easy to miss one. Anyway, I just went to PKI on Saturday (5-4) and spent the whole day in Hannah-Barbara Land (for my daughter) and managed to escape for one "quick" Tomb Raider ride. I was alone so I got to hear a lot of the GP's reactions.

First, GP thoughts overheard before entering ride: Most had no idea what it was. Heard someone say it was a water ride (right after they saw the "You may get wet" sign). Overall, everyone was clueless. The one person who had ridden it (who was behind me and talked incessantly about it) said it was a "motion simulator that went upside down". She mentioned that most of her friends didn't care for it since it was "only, like, 20 seconds long" but she thought it was fun.

Exiting: Heard a lot of complaints. I'd say 50/50 liked/disliked.

My thoughts: If the wait was 30 min, would've enjoyed it thoroughly. I had to wait 1hr 30min. Needless to say, I wasn't too happy about the experience. It's a fun ride. The theming is pretty good except for the horribly out of order movie clips. Put a Scrambler in a building for some neat effects and props and you make a descent flat ride a little neater. Wait an hour for it and now there's gonna complaints of over-hype and such. I think you can see where I'm going with this.

It is not worth the hour and a half wait I had to stand through. And I bet it will be even worse in the summer. Here’s a tip, grab it early before it gets crowded or be prepared for a major let down. If it was only 30 min for me, I would be praising it right now.
