Water parks better then Schlitterbahn?

Now, I already know that Schlitterbahn is pretty great.

Is there a place that rivals Schlitterbahn for water park capitol of the world?

Or, if Schlitterbahn did not exist, what would be the best water park?

My Dad lives in Austin, so I visit Schlitterbahn every summer. I think it is easily the most overrated waterpark. Sure, it has a pretty setting, and they were daring to install an uphill watercoaster. But other than those things, forget it. The park is actually two small parks. You have to stand in line in the hot sun to get on the tram to transport you between the two. Some of the slides need major renovation. There's no theming. And to top it all off, the park is always mobbed.

I vote for either of the Disney waterparks as being the best. However, if you want thrills, Wild Rivers in Irvine CA has the most extreme water rides.

The Beach across from Kings Island gets ignored because of its location, but it's better than any other water park I've been to, especially PKI's WaterWorks.

They have two incredible speed slides (complete with speedometer), a very steep slide where you freefall, a dark tube slide, a tube slide that blasts you uphill, three twisty slides, two clear tube slides, a water playground, a wave pool, lazy river, a combo tube slide/raging river, and the best water ride of all time: Hidden Rapids.

Hidden Rapids consists of several fast "raging river" sections, each separated by splashdown pools. You can float around in each splashdown pool as long as you like, or until you get sucked down the next steep section. The final section is INSANE, with several "waterfalls" in a row that you basically just fall off of. So much fun.

Den, speaking of The Beach. Why havent they added anything in a while. To much competition or what. I think its been around 7 years since they have added anything. It still blows away PKIs water park but they need something new

I believe the last thing they added was either the dark slide or the uphill slide, both quite a few years ago.

I have a feeling the place isn't doing so well. It never seems crowded, and with PKI a stone's throw away, I would say most people coming to Warren County to have fun bypass the Beach in favor of PKI.

One more thing about the PKI water park. Has anyone that has been there notice the concrete is not very smooth and hurts your feet. It also gets very hot. Maybe I never notice it but the cement at PKI seems to get hotter than other water parks
I didn't notice that, I think the concrete hurts at ALL water parks. I know they have to make it rough to keep slips down, but it gets painful. At The Beach, there's sand in some places, so that's nice.

I've never been to Schlitterbahn. I've been to 2 water parks, both in Wisconsin Dells. Noah's Arc is a nice park, I think. I went once, it was very crowded, and didn't ride much. The slides do look intense, a few dark slides, many open slides, and a huge wave pool and other things. They even have a coaster (Dragon Wagon ;)) and shoot the chutes. They always are adding new things, every one or two years. If I went on a not-so-busy day (like when schools don't all go at once) I'm sure I'd have a great time. This year they are adding something to do with sting rays, I don't know what. I've seen billboards all over the place advertising "Sting Ray."

Water World in Denver is one of the best waterparks I have been to. IT is built on about 40 acres, and the best thing about it is that it is built on a hill, so you don't have a lot of staircases and platforms all over the park. It is owned by a city north of Denver, so they get taxpayer dollars in addition to revenue they make from tickets. They have great speed slides, they have two of those amazing toilet bowl type slides, which I love. The also have two huge wave pools, and two of the best themed large raft rides I have seen in a long time. Overall, it is a great deal at only about 20 dollars a day and it is the main reasn that I do not go to the waterpark at SFEG. If you are ever in Denver in the summer and are looking for something fun to do, this is the place to go. Here is a link:

I thought Noah's Ark has the most water slides in the world? They advertise that anyway.
Schlitterbahn is a one of a kind because it utilizes the natural terrain to perfection. Engulfed in trees, miles of cliff-side canals, floats and rapids dropping into the Comal River. Cutting edge water ride technology like their surf simulator and Master Blaster. There is so much to do you’ll never do it all in a day. Plus, this is an independent park that bests about anything the big park chains has been able to put out. I think that’s pretty amazing for an independent. There is alot to do in San Antonio with Fiesta Texas and Sea World, two great parks. But Schlitterbahn is something to behold.
Definetly Water World in Denver the Zoomarang they have their is awesome.
Blizzard Beach in Orlando is quite a park. Everything in the park is amazing, specially the huge water slide (forgot the name). The setting is amazing and I'm sure hat in many people's eyes it's one of the best water parks.

Wild Wadi in Dubai is very cool. Very well themed!! to an ancient type oriental setting with a big crater as an entrance where you cross over the base of a huge waterfall. The slides are very good and are all connected to the lazy river and they split up and you chose which slide you go down at different points in the slide. Most include the water launch. One ride is simple but amazing its a big oval in a crater about 20ft deep. You sit in a ring andevery 30seconds or so a huge amout of water is fired out which hurls you around and ends as about a 6-8ft wave and you don't queue for it!!My favourite water park by far. Also it's situated beneath one of the most expensive hotels ever (burj al arab) which is pretty amazing to stare at.

daniel74, I forgot about blizzard beach. That water park is the best. At least from what I have been to. The one real tall one, I think tallest in the world, is incredible. You pick up so much speed.

My vote goes to Wyandot Lake. It is definitely the best water park in Delaware County, Ohio. It beats the Delaware City pool by a long shot!
