Get Lo-Q at SFOG?

SFOG's site says:

"The daily rental is $10 per Q-bot and then an extra $10 per person (maximum of 6).

To save disappointment we are now accepting reservations for pick up prior to 1 PM a $5.00 non- refundable reservation fee will be added to the normal rental charge. Have your party size, height details and credit card number ready when you call. Reservations MUST be made 24 hours in advance."

We're going June 15th (a Saturday). Will this be worth us getting?

Also can two people share one Q-bot (not at the same time)? In other words, we have 2 adults, 2 children going. One child is barely 48" tall (w/ shoes). So one of us adults will have to wait with that child while the other adult and child rides for the 52-54" minimum rides. But we'll be swapping who waits. So both us adults will never each need a Q-bot since we wont both be riding at the same time on those rides. And the rides we can all ride (48" and under) probably won't have a long line anyway (except maybe Mindbender or Ninja?).

When I was at SFoG last fall, one of my friend's daughters was too small to ride anything with an over 48" height limit.

We had a Q-Bot, and here is what we did: We got the Q-Bot for 6 people (all of us but his smallest girl), and would all go through the Q-Bot line (even the little one). At the platform, we would inform the ops of the situation, and one of us would wait with the daughter on the unloading side until the rest of the group was done. After their ride, the person who waited was allowed to ride in any empty seat on the next train.

I don't know if SFoG still allows this, but it was very helpful to us. It saved a small child waiting an hour for nothing, as we were able to go on things she could ride while waiting for the Q-Bot reservations.

I would recommend getting the Q-Bot, but don't use it on the woodies. IMO, you should ride both GASM and Cyclone in the backseat, and with Q-Bot you will have to sit in the middle of the train. Use Q-bot for Deja Vu, Superman, Acrophobia, Batman, and Scorcher.

I've been to SFoG twice, and the most I've ever seen Ninja's wait to be is about 15 minutes. Mindbender should be about 30 min to 45 minutes, but it's a good ride to do while waiting for your Q-Bot reservation on another ride.

Someday there will be something here.

I used Q-bot last year at SFOG. It took some time to figure out how it worked. At first our group went around around the park reserving times on all the roller coaster with the intention of then later riding them back to back to back... That's not how it works. The wait time (calculated on the current average line time) for the next ride only begins counting down after your previous ride is over. However, a savvy rider :) can figure out how to master the system. For example, go make a reservation for Superman: Ultimate Flight and go ride stuff with shorter lines like the Dahlonega Mine Train or Ninja. Just be sure you don't miss the 10-minute window you have to get over to your reserved ride. So you can save time and wait in fewer lines by using Q-bot.

In answer to your question, I don't think what you propose is possible. I would probably make roller coaster reservations and then go wait in the lines for the kids' rides (assuming shorter waits). We all really liked Q-bot and I would definitely get it again this year.

OK, maybe I didn't understand that you only buy one Q-bot unit. So when you pay for everyone that will use it Lo-Q, what does each person get to prove they paid for it? And I guess the ride ops check each person riding for whatever they give you? I'm definately not trying to cheat the park, I just dont want to buy what isn't necessary, since as I said, both us adults wont be riding at the same time on the 52"+ rides, which should be the only ones where Lo-Q will be needed.

But, if they do still using the method that chris explained, and they only give you 5 (?) rides a piece, I guess we'd have to each pay for Lo-Q anyway, to be able to ride one after the other.

BTW, the Parent Swap at CP was a great thing for us last year, but it also allowed one of the people that just rode (either the adult or child) to ride again with the person that had to wait with the child on the previous ride.

Anyone know if it's necessary to pay to reserve the Q-bot in advance (as mentioned in first post)? We'd be getting there first thing in the morning anyway. And I hear they purchased more Q-bots recently.

Thanks for the tips...

There is no need to prove who did and didn't pay for it. It's a question of how many in your group are using the Q-Bot, not which members of your group are using it. When you make the initial purchase, the Q-Bot is programmed to make reservations based on the number of people you payed for initialy.

You'll get your reservation and come back to the Q-Bot entrance when it's time. At that point, you hand over the Q-Bot to an op, they check the reservation (time and number of people), and then show you where to go.

By using the "parent swap" and Q-Bot together, there would be no need for either you or your wife to miss out on a ride. Use Q-Bot for the group to get into the station at the reserved time. After the reservation is verified, have one adult wait with the little one, and then that person can ride after the other adult is done. That's how we did it, and it worked like a charm.

There was no "5 ride limit." What I was saying is that there were 7 of us total in the group (my friend has a large family). We only neede a Q-Bot set up to accomadate 6 of us, as one of his daughters was to little to ride any of the "big rides." Our need for a 6 person reservation and the 6 person limit imposed by the park were merely coincidental.

Have fun, it's a great park.

I had read about the 5 ride limit from other posts on here, not you.
Did you reserve yours in advance?
