Camden Park's new Swan Lake

CAMDEN PARK CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING

Camden Park celebrates its Grand Opening Saturday and
Sunday, April 27th and 28th. The new attraction for
2002 is "Swan Lake", a man-made lake on the lower end
of Camden Park by the Log Flume and Frontier Train
Ride. Paddleboats shaped like swans are on the lake
and ready for use. Swan Lake and the paddleboats are
the first phase of development in an area that has been
out of use for over a decade.

A 50% discount on the Season Pass is part of the Grand
Opening celebration. Passes are good for riding during
the regular season any day Camden Park is open to the
general public. Season Passes have become a favorite
with the public says Jack Boylin, Park Manager.

West Virginia native and rising country sensation,
Liz Nichols, kicks off the weekend with concerts at
2 & 5 PM Saturday. Folk singer, Steve Free, performs
Sunday at 2 PM on Camden's Arbor Stage. Performances
are complimentary with admission.

Opening Weekend marks the beginning of Camden Park's
99th Season in operation. West Virginia's only amusement
park has 25 rides and a Midway packed with games,
concessions and attractions for all ages.

Personally, I would rather them fix their steel coaster than dig a lake but perhaps that's part of their "redevelopment" and maybe the Thunderbolt Express will be a 100th anniversary ride.

If the shoe fits, find another one.

the thunderbolt express will not open again. take a ride on the sky lift at the park next timeyou are there. you can see from there that the track has simply detiorated too much for it to ever operate again. there are other major problems with the ride also.

When I lived in Huntington, you could tell the start of each season by the newspaper article asking if this would be the park's last year in operation. I am thrilled to hear they are exapnding!
