SFStL & WoF Trip Help

My wife and I are planning a trip to SFStL and WoF the weekend of Apr. 26-28. We want to do SFStL on Saturday and WoF on Sunday. So, we would like some general information regarding these parks. Like:

What are the crowds like on Saturdays at SFStL and Sundays at WoF in April? Is it possible to do all the coasters in less than 1 day at these parks on those days?

Where are decent places to stay near the parks? Does SFStL have FastLane or Lo-Q?

Any other info you can think of will be appreciated.

We are planning on leaving SFStL mid-afternoon so we can drive to WoF that night and be at the park Sunday when they open. We will then drive back home (Chicago area) Sunday afternoon.

Does this plan sound too aggressive? Am I crazy? My wife already thinks I am but she's willing to try this because she's only the passenger and I'm her chauffer.

On a Saturday early in the season, SFStL shouldn't be too busy (probably 45 minute waits for the "big" rides) You should be able to get everything done you want with no problems. I don't know if the new Scooby Doo dark ride will be open yet... or Mr. Freeze (it's supposed to be getting the lap bar treatment). I've heard rumors that SFStL is getting Fastlane this year (yuck...) but don't know if they are true.

WoF on a Sunday should be pretty dead. They have some "Festival of Bands" or some such... but I have never encountered huge crowds.

The drive from SFStL to WoF should take about 3.5 hours (and I don't have a lead foot). You should be able to find a hotel along Hwy. 70 - so just stop when you get tired... As far as hotels near the park - there is a Ramada (I think) right next to SFStL (I hear it's nice, but expensive).

The trip doesn't sound TOO crazy... the drive from KC to Chicago Sunday night might get a little long, but what can you do?

Have Fun

There is also a campground right next to SFStL if you're an outdoorsy type and looking to save some $$. Even on the most crowded of days you can easily hit all of the coasters at SFStL at least a couple of times a piece. They don't have an extensive flat ride selection and the probably don't have a flat that you've never been on before so that could clear up some time if it does end up being crowded. The woodies are the gems at SFStL IMO and pray that Mr. Freeze has it's lap bars installed by your trip (or hope that it's at least open even if it still does have it's OTSRs).

GO HUSKERS!

In the past years, SFStL usually isn't too crowded on Saturdays, but I'm not too sure this year since we got Scooby Doo. There is a new Lo-Q system at the park. I read in one of the forums on this site that the new lapbars on Mr. Freeze will be ready to be used on one train by April 20. If this is true, they probably will have the usual one-train operation, no matter what the lines are like. If you're lucky, maybe by the time you go, the second will have the lapbars installed, too. Have fun!

WOF is pretty easy to fit it all coasters in one day. Their only is 3 major coasters:

Mamba: Hyper

Timber Wolf: Woodie

Orient Express: Arrow Looper

There is also Wacky Worm, a kiddie coaster, and Boomerang, a Boomerang. The Boomerang I'm pretty sure usually doesn't have very long lines. I'm pretty sure you could fit at least 1 ride on all 3 major coasters in one day.

1. Ok one Low-Q will not be installed in the park till very late in the season.

2. Recently I have been chating with a ride-op on Freeze and he says that Freeze has yet too get the lap bars. But I will put all these rumers too rest sunday night, because the ride ops are suppose too train on Freeze with or with-out the trains. So I will find out sunday and let you all know.(I was the one that posted that one of the trains would be ready for the 21st but that seems to have changed)

3. Also Scooby WILL NOT be open on April 21st. The set opening date is May 17, if I remeber right.

4. Whos gonna be there opening day?

5.Also my first ride on Boss is Tommrow (saturday) :p So I shall all tell you ALL abotu it.

I'm gonna be there opening day, as you know...by the way, learn to type.;)
