King Cobra at PKI questions.

I was just wondering if King Cobra was the oldest operating standup coaster until this year?

If it was and now its being dismantled, which stand up is next in line for being the oldest and still operational?

There is a TOGO coaster called Roller Coaster at Hanayashiki Amusement Park built in 1953 and is still operating.

He is asking about stand-ups and that is not a stand-up. Togo made that but I can assure you it is sit-down.

Darn, you should have been more clear. But I do believe that King Cobra was the oldest operating stand-up.

The next oldest I believe is Shockwave at Kings Dominion. I believe that is King Cobra clone.

King Cobra was the oldest operating stand-up in North America. Don't know about Japan, though: that ride is a Togo Astro-Comet, and there could very well be a Japanese Astro-Comet older than King Cobra still operating.

(How is that for a long-winded way to say, "I haven't got a clue!")

...not sure why I believe this, but I think there was a stand-up in Japan older than KC...and that KC may have been the first of the LOOPING stand-ups. I could be wrong...rcdb lists two stand-up Togos in Japan, neither with a date (one of which features a stand-up train and a sit-down train....VERY cool idea, IMO). Can't read Japanese to tell from the park's sites. The "twin" at PCW I think is the next oldest in N America...
I think I recall KC being billed as the first stand up when it opened. But that's been a lot of years. I could have had some qualifiers.
The PKI website says its The first stand-up looping coaster in North America!

Coaster Count- 21 and counting

Wouldn't Spiral at Formosa WonderWorld count. It was built at World's Of Fun in 1976, then moved, so technically wouldn't this be the oldest operating stand-up coaster?

Also, didn't the old River King Mine Train used to be a stand-up? I believe so, and that was built in 1971. But that really doesn't count because now it is just a mine train.

I thought I read somewhere that Iron Wolf at SFGRAm was the oldest standup? I read that it's world's tallest, fastest stand-up looping coaster, but I thought it was the 1st? I could be wrong.

stoogemanmoe, that is incorrect information. Iron Wolf was built in 1990. But, in fact, this coaster was B&M's first coaster and their first stand-up.

Currently, Riddler's Revenge is the tallest and fastest stand-up coaster in the world.

Also, Sonnyrulz, technically the coaster ended in 2001 because it did not operate this year.

I think King Cobra is the oldest LOOPING stand up coaster. I beleieve there is a racing Togo stand up in Japan made in 1982. But I may be worng.

The "Looping Coaster" in Japan was built in 1984(the one with a sit down and stand up train, Nasai I'm a little etchy on this but wasn't the racer built in 1979?
interesting fact is that they are tearing down the ride at night i think. we were at pki on gold pass preview night and the ride station was there. the next day at 3 pm it was gone except for the operator's booth! sort of eerie...lol
