Question about Arrow's website

Well it's about 3:20pm EST right now, and it looks like arrow's site is momentarily down for an update. My question is, why do people say that the logo that was on the pop-up window looks like "Ce"? It pretty clearly to me looks like a script (read cursive) "A". Oh well, in any case, I guess we wont have to wait much longer for their 'offical' news *large grin* :)

Dunno, but their site is back to the way it has been all summer...smells like an aborted attempt to update their site.

Now they say it's down. As a broadcaster by trade (originally, anyway), it never ceases to amaze me how Web downtime is treated as an acceptable condition.

Great now we have pissed them off after someone stole those images of the site. I guess we will not be getting the anoucement today afterall, and the site will probably be down untill they get a better firewall.:(

Better firewall? The idiots put the stuff onto the public server...

What the hell were they thinking? I mean any run of the mill Joe know that you can't just put those things on a public server! ;) j/k.

Being a web designer by trade, after looking at Arrow's site I wouldn't be suprised if the guys that run it know that they even need a firewall.

Firewalls are for networks connected to the outside world in some way, not Web servers.

For some strange reason, the computer that I use at work is able to logon to Arrow's website. I looked through the entire thing, it is the same as before the "shutdown." My computer at my house gets the "Due to recent events..." screen.

I cannot figure out why the work computer is able to get the old site up, anyone have an idea?

The old pages are probabaly in your browser's cache, and your browser is pulling the pages from there, not the Web server. Try clearing your cache within your browser, or go to Arrow's main page and try Shift+Reload or Ctrl+Reload to force a "hard" reload.

you can set up firewalls with web servers. some companies do this with sensitive data (traffic stats and so on)

I agree Jeff. There's absolutely no compelling reason to EVER have web downtime, unless your servers fail. There's especially no excuse for downtime due to an impending update. The site should be 100% complete, on your HD. The only time it should be down should be the 3 or 4 minutes it takes to delete the old site and upload the entire new site to the server. Now, from the Arrow message, it seems like one of their servers may have indeed gotten fried or something.

I doubt it's a hardware problem, too. They have a Web server up, it's spitting out a page that says "This site is down." I would expect that if thier server got fried, or one of several servers if they have more than one, you would get no response when going to thier address.

Its all very suspicious....

Regarding the new logo and whatever, I think they're just launching a new image for the "new" Arrow. Their IAAPA booth has the new logo on all of their signage (see the gallery). What I'm getting at is that I don't think the logo is ride-specific.
