What about Premier and TOGO?

Since we all discussed Arrow's roughness, do Premier and TOGO rides suffer from roughness for the same reason Arrow's rides do? I know that OTSRs are a bad thing with these two companies, but what is the reason?

I don't have any problems with Premier because of the padding nor TOGO becuase of the simple ride design. Infact I get mad people diss Premeir.

Same here, Genius. I wish more people would ride JJ now, well, atleast next year when it reopens. It is extremly smooth and a wicked ride. The Vekomas, however, still need some work on the wheels to cut down on the jumping of the up ans side stops.

Having ridden some Togo coasters in Japan, all i can say is: OUCH. They built some indoor coasters with a very strange restraint system, that seems to fit japanese size only, and it was horrible.
The Ultratwister was O.K.
The Vekoma rides in europe, such as the double loop/double corkscrews were quite O.K. as well, but i some of their older corkscrew coasters were horrible.
Dont know about Premier.

We've all seen the guy on one of those TV specials from Premier talking about all the work that goes to ensure the smoothest possible ride . As for Togo , could somebody explain to me exactly how the Windjammer ran ( or was supposed to ) , the pictures I've seen of it look like there was nothing to it , what am I missing there ?

I've only been on the TOGO "King" stand-ups, and feel they are both torture on parts of my body I didn't know I had, and some I'd like to keep in tact.

Premier rides aren't bad, I don't think. The problem is the restraints, in my estimation. They swallow your head and bang you around when they need not do so.

I agree. I rode Mr.Freeze at SixFlagsStLouis this year and its not the ride itself. I thought the ride was very good with minimal roughness. Its just the restraints inwhich are entirely too big. But, I like to call them Steriod Restraints....

Actually, I love Premier, but not TOGO. Outer Limits is 7 on my top ten list. It just seemed that everyone else though that their rides were rough.

Sure they offer headbang but it doesn't matter because of the padding , yeah, padding has arrow or Vekoma ever caught onto the theory of padding on their horse collars. *** This post was edited by coastergenius on 11/8/2000. ***

Yeah, Vekoma took the perfectly good SLC (specifically Mind Eraser at Adventure World) and added ear-pads to it. Took a nice smooth ride and turned it into a head-banger. Maybe they needed those ridiculous pads on T^2; on Mind Eraser they were not needed, not desirable, and made the ride *less* pleasant.

Padding isn't the answer, folks!

You want to see what's wrong with a TOGO coaster?
Ride the Manhatten Express in Las Vegas. If I were an attorney that specialized in whiplash I'd set up shop next to the exit.

I DISPISE both Premier and TOGO. JJ's was terrible, and so was Windjammer. Arrow's IMO aren't even that rough.

I still don't understand. There appears to be really nothing to the Windjammer, were the restraints simply uncomfortable, did it do or was it supposed to do something really cool that made it rough? I've seen plenty of pictures, I'm stumped as to how it ran.

p_c_r, you are right, there was not much to Windjammer. It was not big, it was not fast, it was not anything special. It was, however, one of the most painfull headbangers ever. Why? I don't know, most TOGO coasters have that problem, too stinkin' much headbanging. Something, somewhere in their design is sub-standard, which must account for it.

Let me tell you something about Arrow Dydaics ad Premeir Rides. Imagine bangig your head ito a pillow ataroud 40 miles and hour (Premeir Rides), now imagine bangig your head into a wall at 35 miles an hour (Arrow Dynamics).
