X's price tag

Anyone know how much X ended up costing Magic Mountain? They seem pretty hush-hush about this. Cedar Point uses cost as a promo tool... I'm just curious how the cost compares to something like M. Force. (I can't spell Millenium)

Can't this thing go any faster?

I think it was around $20 million. I'm not sure though.

A Vekoma SLC would do Nebraska wonders! :-)

Its been under debate ever since it was announced. Considering that SFMM has never officially released a number (right?) I would say that anybody's guess on this board is as good as anybody elses. (Unless you claim to have an inside source, and then I will believe every thing that comes spewing out of your mouth, of course.)

If the shoe fits, find another one.

There have been articles on X that did list the price tag at $14 million. That's what I go by. Any additional money SF spent due to delays, ect, is anybody's guess. If I were SF, I wouldn't release that info either.

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?

Sounds like a good bargain for SFMM considering how much revenue that is going to end up bringing in.

But how much revenue would that be? Didn't Great Adventure, a seasonal park, surpass Magic Mountain, a year round park in attendence? And don't blame it on Nitro since SF advertised Deja Vu, X, and the other one before they opened.

I heard that $14 million figure tossed around quite a bit...but that might have come from the parking lot attendant!
Bigkirby, I don't understand what you mean? Since X didn't open until 2002, then obviously we're taliking about the 2002 attendance figures.

1) Goliath JR was never advertised. It is a kids coaster for crying out loud

2) Déjà Vu, although being the first to open, opened only after the summer tourism season ended. Few commercials (there were commercials and radio ads, but few) ran with last minute video footage editing of the animation and up close clips of riders on SUE. SFMM always runs footage on their own rides in their advertisements, but for DV, this is one big exception.
