Cedar Point new coaster in 2003?

I have read in a couple posts (by different people) that Cedar Point is already planning on building a new coaster for 2003.

Did anyone else hear about this, or is it just a rumor?

My gut feeling says it is a rumor becuase it would break out of CP's pretty consistent 2 year building schedual. but then again, with SFMM is hot pursuit... one never knows..

Thanks

Planned Parks for this summer: CP, SFWoA, SFGAm, SFKK, PKI, MA, SFStL, HP, KW, SFMM, KBF. Is 11 enough?

CP seems to be building coasters every two years, therefore I think this is just a rumor.  I have a feeling that Cedar Fair will do a lot of improvements at Valleyfair and Worlds Of Fun in 2003 and won't have too much left over for CP.

Would they already be thinking about it? In my opinion, I don't think so or it is just small talk because they already have a coaster getting built right now.

fist of all i would like to repeat that sfmm and cp do not have to compete . most people in ohio never heard of mm and most people in so cal never heard of cp.

and second mm started planning Goliath 3 or 4 years in advance

I dont think its a rumour. Look at all the huge rumours that were on ThrillRide about CP.

I think its true; becasue as said before SFMM is on hot pursuit. We'll have to wait to find out.

I've heard from a top worker, that this is the coaster schedule for the next five years:

1. Replace CCMR with a roller soaker

2. A CCI for the beach area

3. Dueling/Single Flying coasters near the lagoons

Sounds right, Ravenguy!  It's crazy how many people know top level workers/execs.  Granted, some may be legit, but the number of people who know these folks is amazing!

Pezman,  dont trust anything you hear from workers.  I doubt if any of those things are going to happen.

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?

I'm sure CP already has plans going for 2003/2004.  It's no secret guys, it takes years to plan stuff anyways.

I'm sure that CP has plans, or are making plans... but probably for a new coaster in 2004, and not next year.

I wouldn't be a BIT surprised if Cedar Point already has a plan on what their next coaster already is, if one is planned for 2003...

Although this is a coaster that won't goto Cedar Point within at least the next 5 years... remember how Millennium Force was basically concieved about a a year & a half before it was announced? I think parts even started showing up during the middle of the season.

Now, granted... it's a huge coaster that required early planning... but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Cedar Point is planning on a new rollercoaster for 2003 maybe to re-claim the record of most coasters in the world (as they clearly argued in a recent news article)... but this souly depends on attendence for 2002... which I could bet the farm it will be up, because of a recovering economy & their newest attractions!!
