$oak City

I think CP should re think the seperate charge for $oak City. Especially, one hour away you go on 10 coasters, a waterpark, and sea life park all in one price.

The place is packed, weather permitting, all season long. Why would they throw that revenue away? Without that fee structure, the resort guests couldn't go there on their "off" days and they couldn't sell combo season passes. It would also make it more crowded.

I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing.

Plus, I'm sure the waterpark is a pretty big cash cow and allows the park to build more coasters.  Make Soak City part of general admission and it take a longer period of time to raise the funds to build the big rides.

 I can easily see Soak City bringing in the money during the hot days in June-August. While I have never set a foot inside Soak City before due to the separate fee, I can understand why they have a separate charge. That place always looks packed.

If I ran CP I wouldn't change the price structure.  The place is always packed in decent weather.  However, because of the seperate price, I've never been inside it.  Whenever I'm in the mood for a waterpark I go to Michigan's Adventure.  MA seems to have a better waterpark anyways.

True, you COULD go to SFWoA, but people don't. Cedar Point appears to be functioning pretty darn well to me, and when I went to Soak City it was packed.

I 'd have to disagree with that. I find Soak City superior to quite a few of them. Although, for the "included in price" waterparks, MA's is a bargin.
Then again, I haven't been in Soak City for the last four years, either. I'd go back if they would install a "Water Works" like the one at Dorney...

Why would Cedar Point still change it if Soak City is jammed pack during the summer? It's not like moneys not coming in.

Also it would be hard to connect the two parks without having a big bottleneck. Their is a min-golf course, go-carts, hyper-coaster, parking lot, VertiGo & Ripcord in-between the two parks.

Soak City is bigger than most think since Magnum seperates the two sides. With the excpetion of Magnum, you really can't see Soak City in a whole from the park.

So Chaindog, other than the swim up bar, what do you like better at Soak City than at MA.  My personal favorite at water parks are wave pools.  I don't see how CP's one wave pool even comes close to MA's three wave pools.  Considering the slides to be about even, I'll take MA's wave pools over CP's swim up bar.  Please don't take this as an attack, it really isn't.  I'm just curious as to what you base your opinion on here.  Personally, I've never thought CP's Soak City had much to offer.  However, CP's Soak City is better than PKI's water park.  In my opinion, PKI's waterpark is the worst in the midwest.

 I like Renegade River at Soak City and it doesn't matter about the seperate charge to me, I'm still going to visit both

Pointman - no offense taken! I guess I like the two tube rivers at CP. And, like I said, I haven't been to Soak City for quite some time, and I did MA and Dorney last year. Perhaps I'll have to revisit Soak City, because it seemed to me there were far more slides there then at MA. But, it looks like I'm mistaken.

I haven't visited the waterpark at MA yet (it was too cold the day we went), but I DID walk up to take a look.  CP does have more water slides, and I didn't see any kind of "river", but I was only looking from the entrance way.  Personally, I love the two tube rivers, especially the Renegade river with the waterfalls and waves. No matter how crowded it is, the rivers are fun. CP charges by the hour or day.  Although I generally get a combo season pass which gets me into both CP and Soak City all seasonlong.

Actually, MA has a long Lazy River.  SFWoA has my favorite Lazy River.
