New Trains

With Vekoma's new wheel designs, if a park wanted to could the purchase smoother trains for their SLCs?

im sure they will try and bring them to new and older designs, but why pay the money, unless in really bad shape, serial thriller at SFAW is fine IMO

Sfne's mind eraser is horrible

SFA's Mind Eraser could benefit from some new trains.

All SLC's could benefit from new trains, but I've always found SFA's to be better than most.  It may be just the soft padding, but it causes me less pain.

Instead of spring loaded wheel assemblies why not just add larger guide wheels?That way the trains won't slam around the corners as much if at all.

Hey, SLC's can be enjoyable. You just have to use what I call the "Headrest Theory";) Here it goes. Down the first hill and thru the Butterfly you put your head on the left headrest. Then, thru the sidewinder, you put your head on the right headrest. Next, thru the double barrel rolls (or whatever you want to call them) you keep your head to the right. Finally, thru the last turn into the brake run keep your head on the left headrest for the duration of the turn to avoid further headbanging. Works for me;)

each new train costs a quarter of a million dollars, they could fork the money over, but whats the point if all they have to do is work on a few items.

I dont think that Mind Eraser at SFNE is that bad. Although it woul be more fun to have it a little more smooth, i think it is ok.

SLC's are awesome.  Do I think they are rough? No, but I don't consider them silky smooth like most B&M's.  I actually prefer the coasters that throw you around.  Probably a reason I think Mean Streak is the second best ride at CP.

Any coaster will do for me! I've ridden two SLC's (SFA and SFWoA) and I liked both of them. Even though they are a little rough, they don't bother me!

I've ridden SFA's Mind Eraser and I thought that it could be a lot smoother. But it was still fun though.

SFA's Mind Eraser is the worst SLC I have been on.

Sfa's Mind eraser is much better than SFNE's

I always find it interesting how much people disagree on which headbanger is worse. I wonder if it is a function of head mass, neck length, height, etc.

My personal philosophy for riding head bangers is to lead into the turns with your head.  In other words, put you head against the pad on the inside of the turn before the turn starts and keep it there until you are out of the turn.

SFA just got new trains on Mind Eraser like one or 2 years ago.  Instead of 8 cars, they now are 10 cars long.  I thought the ride was a little bit smoother since they have added the new trains!

The BIG difference in ride between SLCs, among all the ones I've ridden, is really the wheels, so I think it might be something to look into...the unpleasantness of the headbanging, however, is alleviated GREATLY when parks opt for the soft fluffy padding that Jim F. referred to.  If I should "bang" my head against that stuff, I laugh.  When you have the hard-molded "padding" though, even a slight jolt can adversely affect the experience considerably!
