New TR:TR email update!

Yeah, that queue looks pretty tight! I think that if they had water running through it, it would add to the cave feel. This is probably one of the reasons why they won't allow food or drink in the queue...

Sept. 11th 2001, Slayer released God Hates Us All. The song "Disciple" uncannily describes the events of that day, as well as the anthrax letters that followed.
--Slayer: Thrash band, or the next Nostradamus?

I just hope they keep up on the themeing.  It is supposed to be very groovy, but will it remain groovy in 5 years?

Does anyone other than myself think that PKI may have tried to stretch the "mystery" about TR just a bit too long? At first I was pretty interested in the project and I followed the developments [or rather lack of] for quite some time but my interest has already peaked.  Now frankly I don't care what it is.  You can only string people along for so long before they become indifferent.  And you run the risk of "anticipointment" by getting people's hopes up too high.  I'm more excited about IB's new LCoSM than Tomb Raider, especially as I see more and more construction pics of LCoSM that actually SHOW you something.

Or am I alone in my thinking as always?  LOL!

Your looking at it from the enthusiast standpoint.  99% of PKI's attendees have not even begun to wonder.  I expect that will change soon when the marketing blitzes start.

As far as I know, most people really don't know its this mysterious marketing campaign. If I hear someone at school ask someone ask what Tomb Raider will be, most of them pretty much know it isn't a coaster, but most talk about it like it is a sort of dark ride comparing it to rides at Universal Studios and stuff. I don't think anyone but enthusiasts have followed this closely to know exactly what it is. In the area, a lot of people seem really excited about it though. When I make the comment that they haven't announced what it is yet, people go, "Duh! It's going to be Tomb Raider." I laugh to myself, and say, "Yeah, you're right." LOL. The mystery is something that really interests me.

John K - I *was* referring to the enthusiast community.  I doubt its much on the GP's radar and won't be until the final details are announced and an ad campaign starts.  But as an enthusiast I feel as if I've been strung along far too long and I'm "over" it.  But I admit that my feelings towards TR may be unique as obviously quite a few are still interested, as this thread attests to.
Well, to go off on a complete tangent..... which I so often love to do ;-)......

To be honest with you, my personal feelings come into play here.  What I mean is, I often am amused by how enthusiasts analize or put parks under a microscope.  I am A#1 example.  By spending so much time discussing, reading, studying rides and attractions we run the risk of burning ourslves out.

I don't think PKI has really strung us along.  They did an initial press announcement, but stated from the get go that we would have to experience it ouselves to find out the details.  Since then I believe there have been only two updates, and that was only for those that voluntarily signed up through their website.  They have revealed what they could at the time without going against their initial decision.

My impression of being strung along is constantly being teased or prodded about something.  Or being told false or misleading things to keep one interested, yet off track.  By that definition I don't think PKI has strung anyone along.

But the curiosity is eating enthusiasts alive and those who are determined to get any info can only blame themselves for getting ancy.  Patience is not my best virtue, nor others.  Each of us could have ignored the press announcements and updates and just waited until we rode it next season.

But in today's gimmie gimmie society, that is not enough and we want more, more, MORE!  it's the nature of the beast.  (No pun intended!)

I think it will be fun and be one of the most talked about rides this season.  As you have said, judging by it's popularity on message boards most must not be tired of it.  Just imgaine when the GP's curiosity gets peaked!

:-)

John K - you've got me thinking and you're right, PKI has not strung anyone along.  I apologize for my snap judgement.  They have only been as forthcoming as they've promised.  The constant speculation, innuendo, and misinformation has come from those not connected to the park.  Still doesn't change the fact that my interest is now gone, and my original post was only to inquire if others felt the same way.  Of course this is probably not the thread to do that in since most here *are* interested.

Anyway, I'm sure whatever TR is I'll enjoy it when I finally get around to riding it.  I was in no way dishing the ride or the park's decision to build it.  I happen to think its a great idea.

I hope you did not think I was getting on your case about it.  Actually I can see where you are coming from.  Regurgutated, repititous info annoys me too.

I hope your interest returns enough to ride it soon after it opens.  I have a feeling that one the public gets introduced to it, they will keep the attraction very busy and create a long que wait.

Shagg- I mean John K:

I didn't feel like you were getting on my case.  On the contrary you made me realize it wasn't the park that was responsible for how I feel. As for getting to PKI this year its not gonna happen.  I know how many vacation days I have and they're already mapped out thru the end of the year.  But I'll get there again, probably in 2003.
