Would Cedar Fair purchase Canobie Lake Park?

Does anyone here on CoasterBuzz think it is possible Cedar Fair or Six Flags would buy Canobie. I could see Cedar Fair buying it and adding a coaster... Does anyone else??? Or maybe Cedar Fair buying Whalom...

Whalom is too close to SFNE. They would be better off with the Bowen's getting it back and cleaning it up (looks a little shabby). Maybe a CCI could come in a few years. How is Canobie doing with space?

Canobie has some space especially the parking lot near the waterslides and the picnic areas...

I agree that the parking area around the water slides is basically always empty and that they could put something there.  It would be nice to have a coaster go in that spot.

Cedar Points next purchase will be in the South. Chains need parks that can operate at a profit year round to help boost the lines they credit they draw off of for capital projects.

The family that operates Canobie Lake does a great job. They are not in it for almighty glory or big money. They make a good living, and do not wish to sell. As for Quassy, they a group picnic park, with limited use and revenue, therefore not a solid buy if you want to reinvent their wheel. Whalom Park needs a few miracles to happen before they can operate in the black again. The Bowens needs a GM that can work with the community, keep to a budget, and revenue share some new rides in, as they are also a local-class park that relies on group outings for a huge part of their revenue.

It would be very cool if Cedar Fair, L.P. bought out Canobie Lake. That way, three of the nation's top chains would be competing in New England-each park with it's own taste. Six Flags, Kennywood, and Cedar Fair. SF would cover the thrills, Kennywood would cover the old, family style of Lake Compounce, and Cedar Fair could maintain the merging of both. It would press all three parks to add new attractions too...
CoasterGuy has a very good point, but I would sooner see Cedar Fair buying Jazzland in Louisiana... Lets just call it a 'hunch'...

Heh, it wouldn't be very cool for the current employees of Canobie Lake if CF bought it....

So perhaps the rumors of Visionland or Jazzland getting "picked up" aren't so wild after all?  How about Dixie Landing?  Did that park ever open?  Is it a candidate for purchase?

i don't think cedar point would be interested in canobie lake. the park is too small and there is not enough parking. besides there are houses pretty close to the park. canobie lake almost purchased the stand-up at kings dominion, but the lift was too large.

Cedar Fair was interested in but ultimately passed on Visionland.  Anyone who went to the first Winter Solace at Knotts has the one and only t-shirt listing Visionland as a Cedar Fair property.  I wonder if those would be collector's items?
So Cedar Point was VERY close to purchasing the park?  Any specific reason why they backed out?
