"Spring Break" crowds at BGW.

With an upcoming trip to Norfolk, VA in early April (3-6), my wife and I were kicking around the idea of going up to BGW for the day on Thursday. (according to their web site, they are open that day... if I have managed to figure it out... would would much better with a calendar and colored in dates like most parks... but oh well).

The question is this.  I am assuming the reason why they are open that week (and then closed except for weekends until May), is because many schools and colleges are closed for "spring break" that week (being the week right after easter).

Just wondering if anyone has eve been there during this time and if so, what kind of crowds can be expected?   Would certainly hate to spend the day waiting in exceptionally long lines when there are other things to see and do in that area of VA.

It is not a case of not being able to get there again... we were actually planning a midweek trip there sometime during the summer... we just thought we would do the April visit because we will be "in the area".

BGW is hell during spring break, if you want to wait 2-3 hours for Apollos Chariot or any of the other roller coasters be my guest.

It's really nice to see everyone get ready for the season already. The off season just kind of blew by before we knew what hit us.

I went to BGW last April, but it wasn't in Spring Break. There was no one there but it was really cold. I rode Alpengiest 7 times in a row in the front seat without ever getting out of the same seat. Apollos Chariot was about 10 to 15 minutes. All the others were walk ons. I had a great time, but I bet it will be much more crowded on Spring Break

"BGW is hell during spring break, "
Thanks.  That is what I was afraid of.  Guess it might be better to wait until sometime when the park is open daily and hit it during a weekday...  BGW on a Monday or Tuesday followed by PKD the next day.

BGW is a bit of a destination park due to Williamsburg.  I've found that it doesn't slow down as much on weekdays as many parks, though it's still better than on the weekends.
Jim Fisher-

I realize that... not slowing down much on weekdays... but as you said its still better than on weekends.

That being said, when would you suggest would be the best time to go?  (time of year, day of week, etc)

I went once early in the year before Memorial Day (not near Spring Break) on a Saturday and it was pretty empty.  I also went once after Labor Day (but before Hallowscream) and it was pretty good too, especially for a Saturday.  So I think the best time to go is off season, before Mem. Day and after Labor Day.  But don't go in October during Hallowscream.  I thought it would be rather empty since it was October, but it was the most crowded I've ever seen it, including peak Saturdays in the Summer.
