Remembering ACE prez on "Good Morning America"

About 10 years ago, I got up early and taped an episode of "Good Morning America," on which then-ACE president Ray Ueberroth was appearing to talk about new coasters.  I watched it probably 1,000 times, and it was evident that Ray just wanted to kill himself the entire time.  The hosts, Charles Gibson and Joan Lunden, were so ignorant and asked not a single helpful or interesting question.  Here's how it went:

It started out with the showing of a few videos of new coasters.  Drachen Fire was first, and Ray commented that it was the "first coaster I have ever lost it on... that is, my sense of direction."  Of course, Gibson thought he meant he threw up, so he made some stupid joke about that.

The next video was Vortex at PCW.  When Ray said you ride standing up, both hosts screeched, "STANDING UP?!?" like they'd never heard of such a crazy thing in their lives.  Next, we get a video of SFGAm's Batman: the Ride.  After that one, Gibson asked, "How can you not be strapped in?" (no one ever said you aren't strapped in). Ray looked dumbfounded and said, "Well, there are safety restraints."

Then we get a POV video of Rattler, and Lunden made a huge deal about the POV, because it's like "you're IN IT."  Never mind that the B:TR video also had POV.  Anyway, during that video, Lunden squealed like a little girl...."Whooooa!"

After the videos, they talked about 30 seconds more, which consisted of Ray trying to talk a little about the people in ACE, but the hosts kept interrupting.  Lunden said she had just been to KBF, where she rode ___ (she couldn't think of the name, but she traced out the loop and spike of Montezooma's Revenge with her finger in the air).  The interview ended with Gibson saying, "Not me!" and puffing his cheeks out like he had thrown up.  And then a shot of Ray looking incredibly uncomfortable, grinning weakly.

Overall, an embarrassing and generally hilarious interview...   anyone else remember this one? :)

You can't spell "dishonorable" without "honorable."

I don't remember that one, but I wish I had seen it!
Another reminder of why I don't watch TV.

-------------
everything's better with a banjo

I still have it on tape along with lots of other stuff from 1992-1993.
