Questions abot SFO

I have read that SFO will be taking out Serial Thriller and puting in a B&M record breaker. I have also read that S&S Sports will be putting in one of their famous plunge towers. Wyandot lake will recieve Serial Thriller. Of course I read this info on a rumours page on a rival site. But, has anyone heard any truth to this?

I doubt it. It's too new of a ride. With CP having Raptor, what would be the point? They would be better off putting in something CP does not have.

I dont know, some very reliable sources have been saying the same exact thing, but it may not happen until 2001. Serial Thriller will likely be moved to Wyandot Lake, replaced by a B&M inverted.

As for the S&S towers, it's been all but announced. See those boxes at the park?

I do not think Wyandot Lake will get SF. Better chance to send it to Great Escape. Geauga Lake considered moving the Corkscrew for years, but no follow through. I would send the Log Flume to Wyandot Lake, it would better fit. SF is already on wetlands area that GL at one time coul dnot build on. Plus, better to put on the perimeter next to the RWBobs. Does anyone know how the new wave pool turned out?

When I was there, they were having a large leaking problem...

Well, this discussion was discussed a long time ago on Refreshing Look's boards. We thought it was a VERY LOW possibility that they would get rid of the Serial Thriller. It's only in it's 3rd season people! They wouldn't take out a ride that's only 3 years old, and besides, it's one of SFO's more popular rides.

About the S & S Tower rumor, that is a VERY HIGH possibility. If you check out www.refreshinglook.com they have some very good information about that rumor. A recent sign was discovered behind the maitanence (sp?) shed which said " P/L " which good mean Powered Launch.

So, Serial Thriller removal is a no no.
Powered Launch tower is a very high possibility.

I agree w/you SFO Chris. The ride is pretty new and has a very small footprint. Also, I belive that SFO(then Geauga Lake) spent a butt-load of money for the specialized footers for that ride, because it's on very soft ground. Besides, why do they have to remove a coaster to put in one?

I have to say Serial Thriller is here for at least 5 more years. Why? The specialized footers, entrance area, and small layout. Plus a lot of people seem to ride it even though I think it was very rough this year. In '98 I loved it!

About the S&S ride, I think a new tower ride is imminent. Every park seems to have one and a first generation freefall without another ride like that does not cover it. Mr. Hydes needs to go.

You think that Hyde's needs to go? At least it works. The Intamin 2nd generation free fall, first one I belive(maybe Premier likes to give AW/SFA proyotypes). One side has not worked in over two years. The strange thing is, the broken side has switched. Be nice if we could get an S&S tower to:(. Anyway, that is probably what SFO is getting next year. Either that, or possibbly a wild mouse type coaster.

Wild One, I went up to SFA last nite (I know I said I wouldn't but what can I say =]). Suprisingly, ALL THREE sides of the tower of doom were running. I have no idea why, seeing as though it was a walk on pretty much all nite. But nevertheless all three were running. First time I've EVER seen that!

Wow. Hey, next time yo want to go just drop me a line here. I will probably stop by next week to wrap up my coastering year.:(

Six Flags America IS a Six Flags park!

This is clearly opinion, but....... I am pretty sure Serial Thriller is going because of a few reasons: 1) SFO wants to theme that whole area for Batman, including changing Texas Twister's name to something "Gotham". I believe they will put in a B&M named Robin, Joker, or Riddler. 2) SFO is Six Flags' main focus because of the market it has joined with CP & PKI nearby. Six Flags would like to take a nice chunk out of its' competitor's park. 3) Wyandot Lake needs a new coaster badly. Why not slap a sure hit south on Route 71 and give 'em one heck of a good coaster with a nice track record? Of course, once again, this is all speculation. No, I did not make this info up, but have gathered info throughout the World Wide Web.

I would think that a B&M inverted in that small area of ST would be too compact. Batman is almost in too small of an area. Then again I say go for it. I know it is smooth and I love those B&M inverteds.

Whose Line is it Anyway?

I was at SFO 9/30 and i ask every ride-op what was the new ride or rides for next year and nobody would say.

In a business sense moving Serial Thriller right now wouldn't make a lot of sense. The ride is new, popular, and as noted above, features unique footers. Why would Six Flags move it to an extremelly smaller park where they are not going to get as much bang for their buck on the coaster?

The only reason they would move it to make room for a Batman clone would be for pure egotistical reasons. And that's not good business.

I think this rumor got started by a Wyandot Lake fan who was doing some wishful thinking.

Ok, I live pretty much right in the heart of this "war" you people are talking about. Kids at my school don't care that Cedar Point put in the very best roller coaster in the world. I would guestimate that 85% of the students at my school have been to SFO this summer and 70% of those returned multiple times. It doesn't really matter what either parks put in. Most kids at my school swear up and down that Magnum is sinking. In other words, Cedar Point doesn't have all those annoying commercials every five minutes.

Getting on topic, SFO wouldn't move ST anyway. There are four main reasons:
1. It's nearly brand new
2. It normally has the longest lines in the park (even when the crew is good)
3. The whole cancer/Thrillerman thing
4. Pure Laziness.
Even if they wanted to take it out, it would take a few years to get started. Remember when Villain's lapbars were in repair? Remember when the park had the whole winter to get ready but still isn't? It's staying right where it is. Yes, a B&M invert would be nice, but they wouldn't stray away from the idea just because Cedar Point has one.

The parks next project, beyond the nearly confirmend S&S towers will hopefully be a lobyinh effort, with some of thier own money atached, to get the roads to and from the park improved. Waiting over an hour to get out of the park is unaceptable for a firts class park. And, please, do not turn this into another dog on SFO tread. Please?
