Volcano:TBC......What does it do?

I'm so confused on this rides layout.  What does it do?  If anyone has any pictures, help would be gladly appriciated.

There are two seperate sections of LIM staters. Out of the station comes a left-handed turn and the train is then fired to about 60-65 mph, makes a wide banked turn, then enters the second LIM section that propels it to its top speed of 70 before going vertical and erupting out the top of the 'volcano' at a height of 155 FT. From there, riders will go head over heels four times through barrel rolls and the ride has a 80 FT finale plunge straight back into the side of the 'volcano'.

They made it seem like the train went up the immelman really slow. Does it really go that slow when u see it for real.

Well, only if you call 70 mph slow.

Any faster through that first inversion you would have the biggest case of whiplash ever. No, and I'm serious. If you think it looks slow, wait til' you ride it. You'll be thinking, it's the perfect amount of speed. Just enough to get the train up and over the inversion, but not too much so that the train rips in half and tumbles down the side of the fake mountain.

I'm sure you aren't going 70 mph at the top of the loop, physics says so.

Well, I *have* ridden it, and it seems like it goes *insanely* slow out of the mountain. I felt like we werent going to make it :). But all of the "high" parts of the ride are really slow...especially those dreaded inline twists!

I've ridden it too, and it's not the fastest inversion.  I've heard about it rolling back on the "Blast" out of the volcano.  The second set of LIM's would overheat and not turn on, so the coaster would roll all the way back.  It's possible, that they may have shut off through the second launch.  It does go somewhat slow through the inline twists.  I didn't think they were fun, but the final drop to the volcano was quick!  I liked it overall.

I love the launch but everything Between the launch and the Final drop into the brakes is rather slow and not very exciting. This is one ride that is more fun to watch than ride. It finally starts building some excitment on the final drop only to stop you as soon as you've built up some speed. It's fun, but I was disppointed.

rod, I'm going to have to strongly disagree with your statement. The two launches are amazing, and very fast. Yes, I will agree that they should've had added more track, but, I'm just glad they finally got the thing to work.

I actually like the slowness of the heartlines...it feels like you float through them!  The rest of the ride is great too.

After the final drop into the volcano, does the train immediately hit the brakes or is there more track inside?

Every time I have been to the park since volcano was open, it has had massive waits, sometimes 4 hours, so I have never ridden it.

Physics...hmm.  Something tells me a 70mph launch at say 20' above ground level (guesstimate) would result in a considerably slower speed at exit height of the volcano.  Good ride - has the potential to be a top 5 steelie even with current layout...

youd be suprised how fast its actually travelling at the top of that first inversion....the second set of LIMs are really high off the ground, so the train has not a whole lot of vertical distance to cover before it finishes its climb.  as for the heartline rolls, they are kinda slow, but the way you go thru them does give you a floating sensation.  and i totally agree...there has to be a way to make that final few seconds more exciting...coming to a stop like that at the bottom of the final drop is really weak in my opinion.  Volcano is a great coaster, but i honestly believe that Intamin could have made it a little more intense...i think too much emphasis was made on the launches.  they seem to be 90% of the hype on that ride...it honestly really does mellow out after that...but still, a great coaster :)

ROLLERCOASTERS....BETTER THAN OXYGEN BABY!!!!!!

The second launch is really amazing in that you enter the "volcano" already flying, and then you hear LIMs as you point to the sky (or what small speck you can see of it through the hole of the volcano).  It boggles my mind to think of the electricity that is used, especially during the second launch.  Isn't that why only half of the seats were used when it first opened?  I heard that they could not run it at full capacity at first because they were not generating enough electricity, or something like that.

Well, when you are watching from the ground, the ride doesn't look all that fast, but I think that's because of the height and distance from the viewer.  When you are actually on the ride, it seems fast fast fast.  I think its a bit of a surprise, you don't expect it to be so quick but once you are on it, whoohooo!!!!

Basically, it's an inverted Wild Mouse coaster layout with half-Corkscrew inversions on the turnarounds.
