The big difference between ECC and ACE is the quality of publications. First Drop (ECC magazine) arrives once every two months and is chock full of cutting edge info. Justin Garanovic, president of ECC, puts a lot of work into the magazine and uses his abundant contacts in the industry to the fullest to bring us breaking news. For example, FD had the first layouts of the SFO floorless.
ACE, on the other hand, publishes two magazines: Rollercoaster! and ACE News. Rollercoaster! is mainly a collection of articles and pictures by members. RC arrives once every three months. ACE News is the more informative of the two, covering announcements and ACE events. It arrives once every two months or so. The big plus for ACE is the events. ACE holds several exclusive events over the year. ECC does the same, but who's gonna travel to Europe. :) However, ECC membership will get you into most park events, such as Coastermania at CP or Stark Raven Mad a Holiday World.
Bottom line: I'm a member of both. ECC for the publications, ACE for the publications and events.
If you're having trouble with your membership, I recommend going to www.aceonline.org and email the membership director. He's usually pretty good on taking care of problems.
Hope this helps.
