Intamin sit down loopers

Do you think these beautiful looking rides will ever be as popular as the B&M loopers?  They look great and the designs look great (I looked at that 10+ inversion ride in Europe).  Why havent they caught on here in the us.  Same with the suspended ones.  How are they, and why haven't they caught on here in the US.  There are only a few of them (the loopers) ex. Volcano the blast coaster.  Whats your opinion?

Six Flags Magic Mountain is the place to be for top notch thrills in 2002! X is the ultimate thrill machine!

No B&M will always be the best or at least for the next several years.
Medusafanatic, you sound like you have an one-sided mind.
Intamin loopers look just as appealing as B&M loopers. I would like to see some more pop up within the next few years. The chances are that they would be just as smooth and just as thrilling.

Intamin Looper inverted and sitdown would be great.  I know there's a few here in he US.  It would be nice to see more in the future.

You think?  Well I think I'd rather have the Mindbender in GA over ANY B&M.  And the Shocker in TX too!  Now if I could ride one of those new Intamin loopers...

All I know is that I didn't expect Superman: Ride of Steel to be as smooth as it was. I think Intamin has to be just as good as B&M and will inovate further in the future.

Six Flags New England goes "floorless" for 2002!!!
Colossus, the 10-inversion coaster in England, just seems to get better and better.  As it was being built, we could see it has a low airtime hill and tunnels/trenches.  Now it seems the trains are going to be like Intamin's hypercoaster trains, just with OTSRs.

I still think B&M's trains are the best, as they are single-row articulated and 4-across.  Don't underestimate the factor of riding side by side with your friends.  Seriously, I think that adds a lot to the experience.  But yes, I think Intamin loopers will be great.

Keep in mind, there's not much B&M loopers stateside either. There's Hulk, Wildfire and Kumba. Given the popularity of these rides, you'd think more of them would be built...

What's the total number of stateside Intamin loopers? Looks like three to by 2002 with Volcano, California Screamin'(forgotten but not gone ;)), and what we guess the little pink thing will be in DCA's back yard. So, as far as number of the two, B&M and Intamin loopers, I guess the debate is over. :) I personally have found myself liking each manufacturer's coasters pretty equally. I do like more percentage on Intamin steel coasters than B&M steel which is only because of their stand-ups, though I understand Intamin(which B&M was part of then?) didn't make them well either(Batman:TE, Shockwave).

PKI 2002- "The Rollercoast is Toast!"

This isn't about Intamin loopers, but it's about Intamin sitdowns... Six Flags Holland will get a sit down coaster measuring 153 feet tall. http://www.rcdb.com/installationdetail1565.htm

I hope they get as poplular as floorlesses did.  Meaning I hope a lot get built in the near future.

I don't know why you people find Mindbender so great. To me it seemed like it was falling apart and was not that soomth.

Montu is smooth as glass.Ninja at SFOG is as smooth as sandpaper.

The only thing I see wrong with the INTAMIN loopers are their trains.  While they have incredible hyper trains which are very open, the looper trains are very closed and ugly looking.  If they could take their hyper trains and put OTSR's on them(I'm being realistic guys, I know it would sweet to have loopers with lapbars), you would probably have the best looper train on the face of the earth.  I hope INTAMIN is reading this.

I think part of the reason people think Mindbender is falling apart is because of how much the structure moves.  Every single support has a ball and socket joint on BOTH ends of the support (cept for the loops).  This allows the track and sturcture to sway alot, and make some noise.  B&M's have ball and socket joins only in select places.

Plus it's old!  23 is old for a steelie, the parts don't get replaced like they do on woodies.

I love going upside down without shoulder bars, can't do that on a b&m.  The loops on the old Intamins seem like your really going upside-down, very round feeling.  They also have alot of wooden coaster elements like camel backs (Revolution) and swoop turns.  B&M rides (don't get me wrong, I DO like them, as well as Arrows) are starting to seem like lego pieces, kinda like the old Arrows.  As superior the transitions, etc. are, most B&M are predictable and usually follow the same sequence of inversions.  I'm tired of intertwined corkscrews (I've never gotten used to that 'snap' over feeling in 'em).

Technologically, the B&M's are awesome.  But when it comes to excitement and suprise, I'll take an intamin (and some arrows too!)
As far as the old Intamin trains being "ugly"... well, they were pretty cool in 1980!!! (or 1977, 1978,....)  They are basically a wooden coaster train for a steelie.

Uh, dude, those are Schwartzkopf designs.  I think INTAMIN might have manufactured it, but it was definitely Schwartzkopf who designed them.

The "inverted helix" on Mindbender is something, too. That last little punch at the end, the last loop, it's all smooth.
That Mind Bender helix is one of the best helices out there IMO.

Schwarzkopf shuttle loops...The most possible fun in 36 seconds.
That's the only place where I can't keep my hands up on that ride.  It's so hard, it also looks like you're going to hit them on a support, I mean, this is REALLY close.  To really understand how close it is, you have to ride it.

P.S.  The support on the helix is REALLY REALLY close.
