Why is this coaster so underrated??
Of the floorless coasters I've been on, (It, Batman, Medusa East, and Kraken) it's by far the most thrilling, yet somehow it manages to be the least talked about...
Maybe because it's in the west (oh no!)? Or maybe because all the hype was moved over to Stealth, but even that is never talked about online.
Medusa has to be the finest B&M looping rollercoaster created. (too my experience, havent been on SKC...) Period. All drops go below ground level, giving equal lift/drop height, and it's paced like none other. The first drop is THE FINEST LOOPING COASTER DROP EVER MADE. (except Steel Phantom, but you know what I mean.)
It also has the most incredible Zero G Roll I've been on, made perfectly to keep you afloat! (Also, I consider the 0-G Roll to be the best thing B&M have created...) Also the sea serpent (leaves a bad taste in my mouth) is MUCH better then a cobra roll. The last fine feature on this flawless floorless is that it doesnt have interlocking flatspins, but rather seperates them by an inclined helix. Something I'd rather have then the finish to Batman, or any other interlocking, featureless corkscrews.
People who love Medusa East and bash the west coast version, RIDE THIS FIRST. Too bad it didnt get different theming...

Sounds like a winner to me. I will be getting my first floorless ride on Medusa West in October, as well as everything else in NorCal. I guess I am really looking foreward to riding Medusa front seat, in the dark.

I adored MEDUSA WEST two weeks ago. It is just amazing, and I've done MEDUSA EAST, KRAKEN,and BKF. I'm glad you've given it the public kudos it deserves.
BTW, I loved ROAR WEST as well! Fun, fun , fun!

Medusa West is my hands down favorite looper. When I went to SFMW this summer it was a walk-on every time and about a 5min wait from the front. I got to ride it 12 times from the front row! My favorite seat is the far left seat; on the first drop you feel like your gonna fall out when it takes the right turn, right before the drop. You also get major airtime on the 0-g-roll and I have to agree with Millenium Force that the ending helix is awesome. In the front row it almost feels as if your feet will be pulled under the front of the car.

Who said it's underrated? I've heard nothing but positive things about it.

RIGHT ON!!! Give the best coaster in the west it's props! Medusa is my all-time favorite coaster, and it certainly deserves a top-ten spot. It's not ground-breaking first, like MF, but it's a kickin ride. Anyone who hasn't been on it yet, get your buns out here to California and ride the queen monster of all coasters. Ride Roar too, one of the best wooden coasters in the country! WOO HOO!!! Sorry, got a little carried away there. Peace. :)

I agree, it is an amazing coaster. Never thought I'd ride a better looper than Riddler's Revenge, but medusa is better. No one mentioned the dive loop which is the best B&M has ever created. Medusa is right up their with Montu as one of B&M's best!

You may get wet on this attraction, you may even get drenched! But can you survive the PLUNGE?

Well, if Medusa is so great, why does everybody say Stealth blows?

I have to agree with all of this. Medusa West is my favorite of all the floorless coasters. The big reason is the straight drop. Big airtime in the back. The inversions are wonderful. Tons of floating. I just wish it was a little closer to home :)
Regarding Stealth, it doesn't "blow". It's an interesting ride. It's got the most g's I've ever felt in a vertical loop. It's a fun ride. People, I think, don't like it because it's not the be-all, end-all experience they thought it was going to be. Yet another victim of the hype.
I wish this one was closer to home as well.

Good point, Jeff. I think it's another "Shivering Timbers" type problem. Not underrated, but UNDERRIDDEN.

Medusa west rocks! I loved every second of the 7 rides that I got on it. Am I the only one who thinks that Stealth is amazing? Sure it's a prototype but it is a lot of fun. Oh yeah, Roar west is the best woodie I've been.

Stealth was very slow and I would have to say that Top Gun and Vortex would beat it.

In my opinion, Stealth was the best ride in the park. Then Top Gun, then Greezed Lightnin'. Vortex, I absolutly hated. I thought I would never say that about a B&M coaster. Small, short, and pain. On Mantis I never had the "crotch thing" but on Vortex. YYEEOOWWW!

Stealth is a dope ride but very short and slow. Medusa - fast, loopy, fast, loopy, fast, loopy, you get the picture.
