California Tourism - Top 10 attractions

I was reading the Sun Herald (Sydney) & came upon this item in the travel section. There is no online link, so here it is:

"California's biggest tourist attractions last year, in millions of visitors, as listed by the Californian Division of Tourism:"

Can anyone confirm this? And is KBF doing well because they're located in the heart of LA?

What I want to know is where is Disney's California Adventure or is that included in the Disneyland stats because if it isn't then there are some big problems when dealing with the amount of guests at California Adventure or the newspaper forgot to include the park in there.

Ace15: my guess is that those are last years stats. Since DCA wasnt around a full year yet, they arent listed. You'll have to wait till next year for those numbers

willthethrill, there are NO "lost causes" IMO, esp. among wooden coasters.  Way easier/cheaper to fix 'em up than to tear 'em down and rebuild...AND we get to see a great ride brought back to life - in the Halloween spirit, arising from the grave!

KBF is probably doing well because it's easier to get to for the majority of Southern Californians, and easier to get to for the folks vacationing at Mouseland.

Mouseland is a money pit too, lets not forget Knotts is not as punishing on the wallet

ACE15 --- DCA was not in operation LAST YEAR. This is its first year. look for it on next years' list.

The SCBB seems to have an unfair advantage, it is the only free admission park on the list.

Not really, the SCBB is my homepark, and they dont count you as you enter the park, they count you when you buy a wristband, or a certain amount of tickets. You guys are right that the Giant Dipper is da bomb, I ride it weekly! :)

Knott's is no were near the heart of LA. It does well becuase so many out of towners visit DL/DCA that they go to Knott's 8 miles away! Knott's is also highly regaurded as a great thrill park campared to Disney's thrills up here in Nocal!

Are PGA's attendance numbers that bad? Thats not good for a park of that size.

When I worked at GA, I always heard figures over 3 million. I wonder if they counted season passes as a single admission?

One thing that is scewed about SCCB is that they sell tickets for the rides as well as wristbands.  What if a mother buys 10 tickets for each of her four kids.  Do they count that as 1, 4 or maybe even some other number of admissions?  I also saw a lot of wristband swapping going on while I visited SCBB, so that also messes with the figures.  These things simply cannot occur at the other parks where you must pay to get in.  Another thought, does Disney sell season passes?  I don't know, just curious.  Because I would assume that they have the fewest numbers of repeat visitors in a year and would sell fewer season passes than the other parks.

Knott's attendence is actually, 6 mill. Disney i beleave is slightly lower than you posted.  It population wise people.  Disney is surrounded be major area so is Knott's.  Six Flags is half way....
