Ya, it has happened to me on a couple occaisions at work. If I have a trip coming up or I just got back from one or if I have recently learned of a coaster that I find interesting then I tend to talk about it quite a bit at work. The monday morning after I got back from Stricker's Grove my co-workers told me that I was not allowed to talk about the trip. Oh well.

Pretty much your entire immediate family CosterSaurus. I had to go to my parents house everytime a coaster show came on TV to record it. Then I would make everyone watch it. I think my parents were unsympathetic when I told them that I missed the Brady Bunch Kings Island episode.

My parents think it's good that I'm into coaster because it keeps me out of the bad teenage stuff. as for my friends some of them make jokes like they will say, "Hey look Adrian, that stick is shaped like a zero-negative loop dive roll and that leaf is shaped like a quadrouple megaloop grativy flip" But as for another friend I got him into liking roller coasters. Well some people are just different.

Actually my "loving" girlfriend tones me out most of the time.  But.... she is going with me to GOCC Fall Freak Out at SFWOA. (our first)  Most of my co-workers just stare in awe most of the time.  I've got 3 of 4 cubicle walls covered in  coaster stuff.  I try to keep my mouth shut about trips and coaster stats, but it slips out everynow and then.

"Gosh, Josh... it's JUST a rollercoaster"

Yeah, and it's JUST a band, and JUST a car, and JUST another guy. Enthusiasts have feelings, too.

Yes, my wife does all the time.  Something about being obsessed.  I don't understand how I couldn't be obsessed.

There are certainly worse things to be obsessed about.

The answer to the question is yes;  girlfriends, friends, family, have all told me at one point or another to "shut up".  Of course, then other friends and family (but not girlfriends yet, sigh...) talk about them just as much as me, so I don't feel too odd. :)

Funny how those people who keep telling me to "shut up about the coasters" are also the same ones who keep brining up the topic.  Once the topic is "out there" I will keep talking until informed that I've "gone over the edge"...isn't that what the first drop is SUPPOSED to be about...

yep, pretty much everyone all of my immediate family and some of my friends. My girlfriend seems to get on me the most about it, and she refuses to go to CP with me.

*Warning bad language*

My friend walked into my room and saw all my coaster stuff and sat there and screamed, "Holy Crap! Do you jack off thinking of coasters?!?"

I used to be pretty bad at it....always talking about them, but now, as I grow older, I know when to bring them up in conversations. Its fine to say some stuff about them, but you need to know your audience and their tolerence.

Heck, I rarely mention them around the girlfriend. Also, If you saw my room, I have one picture up of Magnum, other than that, you wouldn't know my love for coasters.

99% of people just talk about sex, food, sports, money, movies, current events, politics and other people, and that's all right with me, but when I want to talk about coasters, they better just shut up and listen.
