How's Speed The Ride

Speed: The Ride is an excellent coaster and wins my award for best shuttle coaster.  The initial launch is pretty intense, the overbanked turn into the tunnel beneath the sidewalk is VERY cool, and the second launch really caught me off guard.  It's weird cruising along at a pretty good rate of speed only to be blasted even faster into the vertical spike.  Speed is exceptionally smooth and offers little to no headbanging (the overbank has a bit of a snap to it, but the OTSR's are heavily padded). 

I was a bit disappointed by the Treasure Island show.  The spectator bridge is just CRAMMED with people and the show basically is nothing more than a commercial to come inside and gamble.... which must have worked on me as I went in and promptly blew $20 on some video poker machines!  My favorite of the free shows in Vegas was "Masquerade Show in the Sky" at the Rio.  You can tell a lot of money went into the suspended parade vehicles and the sets on stage.

ProgRay, I almost forgot about the second launch. YES! Very cool! Especially when you're not expecting it, as I wasnt the first time through. The Rio Parade was neat, and I managed to snag about a dozen beads. If any women want to show me their "Stuff", you get a string of beads! Choice of color! :)

Oh. and the buffet at the Rio is spectacular! There's like 10 buffets in one, seperated into "worlds". Italian, American, Mexican, sushi, burgers, barbeque, pizza, chinese, seafood +more. I spent 2 hours there and never had more than a "bite" of anything. Too much to choose from. $15 and worth it!

And don't forget the dessert bar at the Carnival World Buffet, LoadedG.... the slice of chocolate cream pie they cut for me back in May was a meal in itself!

Actually Masquerade in the Sky is not only a show, its a ride as well! For $15 you can ride in the show as well as get your picture taken of you in costume. Also few realize that each show is a little different. There are a number of combinations in music, lighting, and sets that way it stays fresh.

 It was awesome. I rode it earlier this year and it was raining when I rode it and the rain hurt like hell but man oh man was it awesome. The launch was the best launch that I ever experienced, there was a lot of air time.

P.S. Did I mention it was awesome!!!

Speed is awesome. We went on Monday Oct. 1st and bought the all day ticket and got about 14 rides each in about 2 hours. Second best launched coaster behind Poltergeist at SFFT. Front seat is incredible. If you only ride once wait for it.!!!!!!!

Speed and Canyon Blaster are the best in town. Manhattan Express is BY FAR the worst. If you insist on riding it to pad your coaster count, you get a coupon with your ticket for Desperado at Buffalo Bills.
