I agree with Superbatboy, I remember being very excited to ride it on it's opening season(since all the promo pix were of the Texas Giant, didn't know any better at the time!)and being very underwhelmed by it. Typical Dinn/Summers mess, first drop was always great, but the rest has always been boring with airtimeless drops and banked slow fan turns, nothing even close to the original. And just like any other woodie that doesn't receive proper maintanence, has just gotten rougher and worst every year since.
But I have to disagree about the earthquake theory. I always point out that up here at Santa Cruz, we had a similiar size quake back in 1989, that was centered just 11 miles from the Boardwalk. The city of Santa Cruz basically took a direct hit, wiped out the entire downtown, but the only damage to the boardwalk were the old pool building and the stage built out on the beach. There was no damage at all to the then 65 year old Giant Dipper. Just rode it last Saturday again with Florida Flyer, at 76yrs old, still glass smooth and a completely fantastic awesome old woodie.
Don't blame an earthquake for Psyclone's current condition. Ask anybody, most Dinn/Summers woodies haven't aged well and were poorly built. Combine with lack of proper maintanence on SFMM's part, and you have the mess today that is Psyclone. Burn the frik'n thing down I say, I'll bring the marshmellows!
