No more Bonfante Gardens

Great American Thrills

Tuesday, September 18, 2001 4:19 PM
On the way to school today, I heard some rather disturbing news regarding Northern Californias newest park, Bonfante Gardens. Sadly, it has shut its doors only after operating for one season. The cause for it, was that the park's major sponsor backed out and cancelled their partnership. Has anyone else heard about this? It is truly sad that a beautiful park such as this, has had such a short life. Well, im searching for a news article on the net right now regarding this, so I will post a link when it becomes available.

Sad news indeed.  I hate to see any park close its doors, whether it has been around for 150 years or just one.  I herad nothing but positive things about Bonfante Gardens, and it seems to me that this park hadn't even begun to reach its full potential.  Even sadder is that the park was actually doing well!

Hopefully someone (or some business) will come along and purchase the bonds that are not yet spoken for, and everyone will once again have the opportunity to enjoy the place.

Cedar Fairs, please help save this beautiful park! Or any investor. It is the best looking park in California(okay, maybe tied with Disneyland) and it would be a shame to not let it reach full development. I had a great time there, even though all the rides weren't open yet, you could see how it was going to be great, plus they had tons of room to expand.

yeah i can definitely see Cedar Fair buying this park. It might be a possibility. Hope Cedar Fair or some other corporation other than Six Flags buys it.

Maybe Busch? They seem interested in "garden" parks.

How weird. The park just opened this year. It has a really fun well themed "in the wood" Morgan runaway mine-train coaster.

Ouch! I was offered a position there.I hope Mr. Bonfante enlists some additional investors. It's too nice a park to let die.

As much as we would all like some (preferably good) amusement park chain by these smaller parks,
money doesn't grow on trees for these companies. They will be bought if the right offer comes around, and also if it makes financial sense.

Once they get a new investor, things will be fine.

Investors in parks at this point are probably a little hard to come by.  Once things settle down a bit, I'm sure money will be available if the park can turn a profit...
