Any Buzzers ride Rattler with it origional drop?

That sucks when parks have to down size a ride because of a few cry-babys!
Who created Rattler anyway?  I've heard that it was RCCA, but I could be wrong.  It looks like an great ride, and I would love to get down to SFFT to do that and SKC.

The Rattler was built by John Pierce in 1991. In my two trips to SFFT this season, I found nothing special about it. It had a fairly good ending, but that's it. The first few drops are extremely rough and the middle section is rough and EXTREMELY BORING. I wouldn't look forward to it- instead, enjoy Superman during your visit.

Actually the first two drops are great. The shaking is insane, but it doesn't hurt at all. The only boring part is the helix. The finale is quite great too. I think it's an above average coaster, with one major downside, being the triple helix.

What was cool about the drop and why did people complain about it?

Rattler looked beyond wild in my "The American Roller Coaster" book. Quoted from there by Gary Slade,

"Upon release from the chain lift, trains slipped over the precipice, twisting first to the right, and then to the left, all the while steepening to near vertical. The bottom of the first drop bottomed out sharply mere inches above the quarry floor and launched the train skyward over a hill and swooping back into the quarry."

This was back when then ride made a 166 foot drop, and since then, that has been raised 64 feet, because of a "few isolated rider complaints".
If the ride still looks anything like the picture, I think it would definitely be a site to see. Hopefully, I'll like the ride more than others have reported though. The location of the ride itself looks intimidating. I bet SFFT is really a beautiful park. Have tons of fun if you go.

The quarry walls really provide an opportunity unlike any other park.  Never got to ride it during the "glory days", hopefully I'll get to ride it before any further modifications are made.  On some coasters, like Rattler, you can see in profiles where some of the drops have been removed.  I've seen it myself where there's now a flat run on Wild One at SFA and Colossus at SFMM (of course those were modifications near the end of the ride).  If I had it my way, woodies would always run that way, WILD!   Guide to Ride lists John Pierce (I imagine as the designer) AND RCCT, as a subsidiary of RCCA - (I'm gonna guess as the builder).  From what I've heard, the first drop was absolutely terrifying!  Must have been sweet!
