Did Deja Vu Open

Well, did it?

"Get off of my moor you michtevous weeins." We prefer to stay" (eyes begin glowing) "Your thinking of hurting us." "Now your thinking, how did they know what I was thinking?" " But now your thinking, I hope that's Shepards Pie in my knickers"

yes and to rave reviews
yup 1 of my favorite rides too

Yup, opened both at SFMM, then a few hours later at my home park, SFOG (Damb it Jim, why does SFMM get all the credit...hehehe)
Well, it wasn't what I had hoped it would be, but it was still fun.  A good ride, but not great.  The SFMM preview was awesome, great food and great friends.  They really did a nice job for us ACE members and the media.  All-day ERT with food and drink.  Awesome.  The ride was underwhelming to me, but that's just my opinion.  Oh well, hopefully X will make up for it.  :)

-----------------

I knew it had to happen -- the very first "negative" opinion on Deja Vu.  I was wondering WHAT was taking so long for one person to say it wasn't all that.  Not that I'm saying your opinion is invaid, Coasterman J, but I just couldn't believe it was THAT much of a crowd pleaser.

I haven't ridden a DV yet, however, I operate a coaster directly across from one.  ;)  Gee, wonder which one that could be.

I will be at SFoG Oct 13 however, so I'll get my first shot at it there.

Well, I'm not completely negative on Deja Vu, I did enjoy the ride and thought it was fun.  I just didn't think it was a spectacular as some people are making it out to be.  The GP will eat it up, but I think it isn't all that.  I had a great time at the preview though, and liked it enough to get 4 rides on the thing, but it's not a coaster I'll go to a park just to ride.  I'd much rather ride Goliath and Thrill Shot at SFMM than Deja Vu.  :)

Legendary, I doubt very heavily that it will "blow you away," but it may very well be better than your expectations. If you focus on enjoying what it DOES have, rather than dwelling on what it lacks, then I predict that you will enjoy the ride.

One thing is for sure, it is a HUGE leap forward in the "Boomerang" design!

"X" marks the spot in 2001!

Actually, IOA Rules wasn't so thrilled with it either. I think it's a really good thrillride with bad capacity and a bad seating arrangement. Considering how low most opinions had become of Deja Vu, i'm not at all surprised at the early good responses to it.

And then Jerry said, "Take care of yourselves, and each other".
It's not that I didn't enjoy it, I just wasn't too impressed.  I enjoyed the best parts of the ride a lot, which to me would be the vertical drop and the loop, but that's about it.  To me, the freefall sensations on V2 are much better than on DV for some reason.  It wasn't disorienting to me as some people have said it is, it wasn't any more intense than the regular Invertigo at PGA imo, and it was a little rougher than I thought a new coaster would be.  I liked the ride, but it's not something I would travel again for.  I'm glad I was able to experience it without waiting, since it'll be a capacity nightmare at SFMM, especially with the lines the park gets.

Coasterman J, you said that you went Friday the 24th on media day. You mentioned above that you are a member of ACE, were you invited by ACE or SFMM for the opening. I have been thinking about going ACE, but the cost seemed a little high. Thanks for any info.
Deja Vu opened saturday afternoon at SFOG and my brother and I were on the third train after it opened to the public....front seat.  Man when that thing pulls u back at a 90 degree angle, and nothing but that pull over bar holdin u in.....creates a hell of rush.  Might not be all that for u guys out west, but here in georgia, nothing even comes close.  Can't wait to get on that adrenaline rush again.  By far SFOG best ride!!!!!
Zero G, Northern California ACE members were invited by Ric Turner from Southern California ACE to come down for the preview day on Friday.  You should definately join, it's a great organization.  I can't speak for all ACE regions, but California is one of the best.  We have some great regional events, especially here in Nor Cal.  Plus you get the Rollercoaster! magazine and the ACE news letter, which are great publications imo.  :)

Coasterman J, Thanks for the great info. I live in the Seattle area and as you know we do not have a lot of good roller coasters up here. Fortunately for me my wife works for Alaska airlines so I can fly for free. Do you know if I can join a different regional ACE, other than the one I live in? Thanks again.
I don't think so, it's specific to each region I believe.  You might want to check with the head office of ACE on that one.  Sorry I couldn't answer the question!  :)
