Steel Eel

Has anyone been on Steel Eel at Sea World Texas.  I'm going next month, and wanted to know what you thought about it.  Also what day should I go?

steel eel looks awsome i should pack the same punch as a regular sized hyper
I heard it offers lots of air time and is an exceptional ride.
It's great, and the lines were VERY short - I rode it at least 8 times in one hour. Probably more! It's not as tall as a hyper, but it's just as good. (and don't miss the Great White)
Thanx so much!!!

I rode Steel Eel a total of 27 times back in July. It has a ton of great air. However, the air is the butt salmmin variety. Especially on the first and third drops. The third drop is a amazing for air but your rear end will take a pounding. Also, the last three airtime hills after the turnaround curve have a bit of butt impact also, especially the second of the three.

BTW, having ridden Titan at SFoT more than 150 times, I did not think that SE felt like a hypercoaster. To me it felt more like a larger version of Shockwave at SFoT but minus the loops.

To me, Steel Eel just isn't fast enough to seem like a true hyper. When I ride Titan I get such a sensation of tremendous speed comming down the first drop and for the duration of the ride. The only sensation of raw speed I got on Steel Eel was during the trunaround curve right after the midcourse.

Anyway, you are sure to get in plenty of rides as there is almost no line at all on this puppy. I got 8 re-rides on a Sunday no less.

Great White is a Batman The Ride clone. It's pretty intense and fast. It did seem a bit rougher than B:TR at SFoT though.

BTW, Fiesta Texas is right up the highway from Sea World and houses the second best coaster in the state behind only Titan. That would be Superman Krypton Coaster. Much like Eel, it usally has pretty short lines. I managed 57 rides in only three days of riding on S:KC. Go to Fiesta if you get the chance.

Its a pretty fun ride but not as good as a hyper but still almost as good.
Let's just say there was so much air that I was laughing almost the whole time! A short (height-wise) coaster that packs a great punch. One train operation usually (GROAN) but at least the line is very short.
I have to echo most comments made here -- Steel Eel is very good!  I rode it this May on my Texas trip, and thought it was a hoot-and-a-half.  Major air on the first three hills, and the block brake didn't detract THAT much from the ride.  The air on the way back is a little less severe, but it still pops you out of the seat.

I really dug the whole entrance to the ride and the coasters location also.  First drop going into the lake was great!

I also agree with the notion of going to Fiesta Texas.  MY GOODNESS does Krypton coaster rock!  What a ride, both in the front left/right and back left.  My favorite coaster in all of Texas.  BTW, I think Steel Eel is better than Titan.  More exciting elements, and it isn't all that much shorter in ride time.

"No listenin', you hear me?"

Well, everbody has there own personal favorite for one reason or another. But to me Eel isn't the intense ride that Titan is with it's amazing first drop and tremendous speed.

TITAN RULES!
steel eel looks cool.  What the heck does BTW mean?? I see it all over the forums and have never figured it out.  That may be a dumb question but i really wanna know.
BTW means By The Way. Stell Eel looks like an interesting ride. This is a little off, but how does SKC compare to Medusa or Kraken

Nitro: The Most Explosive Coaster on the Planet explodes at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2001.
I found SKC to be just as good as Medusa West.

SKC has a better setting, a cool quarry top helix /second drop, and the inline twist is counter clockwise, and therefore, better IMO, plus the Cobra Roll is different than Medusa's Sea Serpent.

Medusa has an Immelman inversion, an awesome straight forward drop rather than twisting, and the first ever Sea Serpent, which I found to be great.

They are both awesome, and I can never decide which one I like better.
